  1. Thank you all for your input! I concluded that I was sure my top was my top - made up my mind, though it is not always so easy, admittedly - and declined the offer to interview at the next school. Sadly, it is just a day and a half before interview day, but for transparency's sake, I thought it good to not use up the faculty's time. My funding details and offer were only formalized yesterday. I wish I could have told the program I was declining earlier, but at least now they can possibly whisk another candidate in - or at least not spend time discussing me/giving me an offer. In terms of how - I called to decline. The program coordinator I spoke to (POI's phone went to voicemail) seemed to approve of my decision to cancel, saying she thought it "classy" - so at least there's some indication I did not offend. I then followed up with an email to folks. Thank you all again! I appreciated the weigh-ins, from all sides. And congrats all.
  2. Hi folks, I’m hearing that some programs might consider it unsavory to drop, some may appreciate/understand, but that the interview experience may not be fun for me - but help solidify my choice. I think it would be hard for me to seem excited, admittedly. I will do some more soul searching and then decide..! Thank you all so much for weighing in!
  3. On a related note, what did folks do with other interviews after receiving an offer at their top? (Because everyone on this thread is definitely capable and has/had interviews and acceptances, first or second or Xth try, now is the time. ❤️) Did you decline the other interviews -- that was/is my inevitable next question to myself. It seems rude to not attend (say, if interview is in 2 days), but also potentially inconsiderate to attend if one knows a school isn't their top/having been accepted at their top choice school. Of course, there is always the possibility that one could change one's mind and I haven't signed any offer letters yet! What do others think?
  4. Thank you! Neither TC nor JS is one of my POIs, so will still remain hopeful! Thank you -- and congratulations!!
  5. Hi folks! I wanted to ask this collective about GMU - I know one person posted an invite from their POI, JS. Has anyone else heard back? I’m wondering if JS was just early in selecting his candidates!
  6. To the posters above -- if the dates are soon, you could email saying you need to plan travel/work schedule; it seems like a reasonable ask, if the dates are fast approaching! Best of luck to everyone, sincerely!
  7. The program coordinator was kind enough to email me back! She said the interview dates on the site are from last year's cycle. This year's interview dates are Friday 2/14 (Valentine's Day!) and Saturday 2/15. (Interesting that GMU has a Saturday schedule!) Invites have not gone out but selected candidates would be contacted shortly, is what she wrote! They don't have a specific date on which they plan to send invites as yet. She seems very sweet.
  8. Hi all! Has anybody heard back from GMU? The last two years, I see the invites went out in end December, at the latest, for interview dates of 1/25 and 1/26-ish (same as this year's dates!). The years before, though, the invites seem to have gone out in the first week of Jan -- so they may yet be coming out. Thank you! :)
  9. Hey y’all, does anyone know if Northwestern Feinberg initial invites are all out for all the labs - or only partially out? Would it be wise to email and ask the program director what the case is, or to wait a day or so?
  10. You're lovely. Thank you for that, and for your reassurance.
  11. Hi everyone I'm wondering if anyone has heard back from the following schools/knows anything about where they're at in the process now. (Is it too early to email program coordinators to ask?) - Harvard - Northwestern Feinberg - U of Rochester - UMass Boston (if we haven't heard back from PI) -- looks like they might be out? - GWU PhD -- looks like they might be out? - CUNY John Jay -- looks like some of the CUNYs are out? Thank you!
