  1. In regards to selecting international vs. Domestic I wonder if that's really true and if even legal? I have asked around from some of the few people on here accepted and so far it seems majority but one are domestic myself included. There is the Global mental health program at OISE that is specifically for international students.. I wonder if that's part of the confusion? Someone else did also notice that in previous years very few Med counselling participate in this forum
  2. Hi there congrats on your acceptances. Are you currently an international student? If yes, then you might know that there are instances where you can pay domestic e.g., if you are a dependent or partner of a tax paying individual. As well the government had passed some law that international students can pay domestic at graduate level, but that might adopted by in different ways across universities so look into that and maybe ask UofT about it. The difference in cost is huge between the 2 for sure!!!
  3. Congratulations on your offers. Just to add a bit to this, do consider speaking to Social workers in the field as well about their experiences in counselling and psychotherapy. I work with a few and many will tell you that if your passion is in counselling and psychotherapy you will most likely require to do additional diplomas to prepare you for the working directly with clients or patients. Many of the Social Workers I work with had to go back and take certificate courses in CBT, DBT etc. Perhaps if you are strategic you could take this when in the MSW program but typically are not part of your core training is what they seem to suggest. Getting funding for sure helps which most counselling and psychotherapy programs do not seem to offer. Read a bit here from page 8. I think the same is true for nursing and other registered professions that can use the title psychotherapist. I think this required clarification when the CRPO was formed. But this only for Ontario so may be different in other provinces?? https://www.ocswssw.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/PG_Performing_Controlled_Act_Psychotherapy_Feb2018.pdf?utm_source=sendinblue&utm_campaign=Important_Announcement_Proclamation_of_the_Controlled_Act_of_Psychotherapy&utm_medium=email
  4. Hi did you mean the global mental health stream under Med? Glad for some more news going out...my fingers still crossed hoping for the best for all
  5. Arggg!! still crossing fingers for everyone and checking here hoping for good news for you. Just wanted to let you know that with my acceptance my ACORN still has not changed if that spares you checking there. Also I emailed the department after my offer with a question related to the offer and to this day they have not replied its been over 2 weeks only got an automated response that they are experiencing high volume of emails- so maybe they are really overwhelmed!! good luck everyone.
  6. My letter says "offer should be accepted in 3 weeks from date of offer or could be cancelled".....and I already accepted. Fingers crossed for you...
  7. Really OISE? what is taking so long- since November too??? .....fingers crossed for you all! last time we made a complaint here they responded - with those few offers.....so hopefully they are reading this lol!
  8. Hi there, are you an international student? The MEd Global mental health and counselling psychology seems cool from- description /or title but take a look on the website, it is targeted for international students who plan to work abroad. The site has more details including that it does not lead to certification in Canada. They have an open house today for the program (March 6) info on their website.
  9. I got in guys! Thank God!!!! check your emails. .......Okay waiting to hear from everyone - fingers crossed for everyone ....
  10. Omg! Just got an email from SGS decision reached too nervous to open hahahahha maybe they were reading our messages earlier
  11. Yah just noticed CP not on the list..they had another open house in the Fall....maybe they should use their time getting back to us first hahhahah #sotiredofwaiting!!
  12. Did anyone else get an email for open house for Med programs from OISE? Makes no sense they are yet to get back to us and now an open house to learn more about their programs?
  13. Random acts of anxiety....I found a forum from 2009 ish on reddit which would be after the last recession, possibly also similar to this year with lots of applicants and back then OISE was still lagging behind, letting students know as late as late March/ early April!!!! Maybe we should just all promise not to check again until March 15th .....hahaha easier said than done! Have a good weekend everyone.
  14. Hey is this your 2nd time applying? what did you do different this year if you dont mind me asking? you can DM if preferred.
  15. Honestly! they should make some laws and regulate this waiting period! Its brutal. Am already promising myself I do not have it in me to do this again. One of my choices rejected me early on....now I think it was a blessing in disguise one less thing to wait for!!!. LOL!! OISE worst one!! they had since November
  16. I emailed the OISE program coordinator and he replied with an auto reply that decisions will be sent late March early April. How unhelpful!!!! Hopefully just mass reply with worst case scenario
  17. Thank you so much for this. Am sure it will be of huge help to many. Best wishes in your practicum and career ahead.
  18. thank you for taking the time to respond with details. I have 2 questions what do you mean by administrative nonsense? some of us have not schooled in Canada before and if we are about to undertake self funding are there things related to this "admin nonsense" we need to be aware about if we get accepted? And 2nd in your experience, is the program supportive if you want to go on to a PhD? they mention a qualifying paper but do many students go on to the PhD from the MEd? thank you again.
  19. For those who got interviews from OISE Clinical please let us know if they share during your interview when to expect to send offers.
  20. would say send brief separate individualized emails and personalize it to their specific interaction or input during the panel interview. I have not had a panel interview for grad school so maybe this is not a thing like for job panel interviews.....And I guess another way to think of it- is you get to connect with 3 of them separately maybe one will slip and give you an informal hint about next steps lol! I once sent separate personalized thank-you emails to a panel- I did not get the job. One of them we really connected and stayed in touch and later gave me a heads up on a new opportunity that came up.
