  1. I'm a grad student in business, so it's completely different college and I have minimal connections to Sociology or Arts and Letters. Thanks for the thoughts though. I kind of assumed I was out of the running.
  2. I know there hasn't been much conversation on Notre Dame, but I'm curious because I am currently finishing up a masters degree at ND (in another field) and kind of waiting on the ND decision before I decide between other programs. I believe their visit weekend is this weekend. I was not invited, but I also have not received a rejection notice. If I did not receive an invite to visit day, should I assume rejection? I am assuming that, but quickly learning that my assumptions are not quite right about this whole process. Any insight is appreciated!
  3. From my understanding, there was no question about funding being available to all admitted students. The conversation was about if it would come from an RA, PA, or TA position and therefore what the exact amount would be because there are different amounts for each position.
  4. Visit Day is March 9th. Found on the department website. Confirmed by calling the department on Friday. When I called, she also mentioned that we would get an email today or tomorrow with more information on the visit day and funding (though funding would not be confirmed until the March 9th visit day)
  5. I am doing the exact same thing. I don't feel like I can make a decision or start planning until I hear from everyone. But I tend to overplan and overthink everything.
  6. Thank you! I'm nervous about their funding situation and wonder if it will be limiting or if it won't have much of an impact at all in the long run. But I am grateful for the acceptance. In theory, Wisconsin is my first choice. It would probably make the most sense for my career in the long run. In practice, not so much. I am already settled in South Bend and ND would not require uprooting myself and my family. It would allow me to balance my goals with my family's a bit more. Also ND is not lacking in resources and the funding situation at Madison makes me nervous. But honestly, I am not well versed in the PhD thing. I'm a first generation college student, almost 10 years removed from college so, I don't have much support in navigating this process. I have heard a few people say that you go to the best program you get into and Madison is certainly that.
  7. Hi All! I'm new to the forums, but have admittedly been lurking. Awesome to see how supportive this group is. I have one acceptance so far, UW-Madison, but still waiting to hear from Notre Dame and Johns Hopkins. I've seen nothing but silence from JHU, but I've seen several interviews and an acceptance for ND which is making me anxious. I have slept a grand total of 6 hours in the past 3 days with the anxiety. I hope we all get some news in the next 3 hours. That would be a nice gifts before the weekend hits. Stay positive!
