  1. Hi Danielle, I know its a bit late, but hope this helps: - I did not have a recommendation from an internship and it did not effect the application. I was a returning student - one came from a professor and the other came from a former colleague (I was in corporate advertising, so a way different field but she could discuss my strengths and how they would have applied to this field) - Your GPA is over a 3. I hear that is fine - the personal statement matters more (went to the Q&A sessions) Give the admissions office a shout! They are pretty responsive - worse comes to worse, get up to the school and go to the office - show them you really want it. I'd look up a bunch of people and call / email them for help - Gwynne Mitchell is in Admissions, Rob Lorey is on a ton of the emails I get, Michelle Desir works in the admissions - see if they can help you. Just know what route you want to take (clinical, COP&D) first. Best of luck - please do keep me posted!
  2. I went to Hunter today to give my deposit. She told me scholarships information goes out in the 2nd semester.
  3. I’m in! This is definitely my top choice. I was also accepted to Fordham, which I am entertaining but can’t come up with a single reason why I would choose them over Hunter. Very excited - I am a returning student finishing my undergrad at 38 and look forward to being around serious students.
  4. I have been accepted to the Fordham and Hunter MSW programs. My focus will be community organizing, not clinical (I may start another thread with thoughts/concerns on that later). Has anyone else had to choose between these 2 schools? I didn’t apply to Columbia because my Honors Advisor is also a Columbia Professor and told me he will be paying his loans off until he is 83, and everyone I knew who took the NYU program said they would have gone to Hunter if they could do it again. Thanks for any insight.
  5. Hello Everyone - I was accepted to both Hunter and Fordham. I am having a difficult time finding reasons I would choose Fordham aside from location. Any thoughts?
  6. Hey! I found this site not to long ago and totally get what you are saying. I'm going to say yes - you have a shot and I hope you took it. They are really into the personal statement, I know that much. Also, I think the drop dead is the 20th but you should check it out. If you have questions on your application, you should give them a call. The student advisors that answer the phone are great. I've called so many times I feel like I need to disguise my voice! Best of luck.
  7. Hello - so glad I found this page (thanks for setting it up, Zyra). I received the email for the interview on Tuesday, and it was this morning! Not much time to prep but I think it well. I've applied/interview for the COP&D method. The questions were more around organizing skills, and lessons learned. The reading assignment was pretty standard. Of course as soon as I left I thought of better answers (even as soon as the next person started talking that happened!), but you can tell they know that. Overall, it was a lot less painful than I thought it would be. Best of luck everyone!
