  1. I have been working as a behaviour technician in ABA services for children with autism for about three and a half years. I work for The children's Center in Michigan and they are pretty amazing and supportive especially in a job with high burnout rate. You can find jobs on indeed.com and there are many companies I see on there. I would be careful though and make sure you check out the company. You want to make sure they are providing ethical and high standard services. The experience is definitely life changing and you learn alot that you can use both at work and outside of work. I cannot speak to how good this looks on your resume but I do know that alot of companies that  provide ABA services also have SLPs that you can shadow to get hours.

  2. Hey,

I am planning on starting at Umass(Darthmouth) Research Psychology Masters program. I just wondered if anyone has experience with this program that can provide me with their thoughts about the program. Basically, anything you can tell me about the program would be appreciated.

    Thanks all

  3. Hi all,
If you have attended any of these programs and can offer any advice that would be helpful too. These are all masters programs that prepare you for PhD programs.

Augusta university- Graduate Assistantship offered with full tuition waiver and very small stipend. Does not cover living expenses

Western Carolina university- Graduate assistantship offered with more than enough to cover living expenses but no tuition coverage. Very close research match with lots of great opportunities. Scholarships available during the next semester.

Umass(dartmouth)- offering assistantship with 12,000 per semester year and some tuition coverage(amount not specified) Least closest research match

  4. I applied to both PhD and Master's programs but since I did get into my first choice PhD, I am going with the Masters option. I got an interview with Western Carolina University and Augusta University which both offer funding. If anyone has any information on both programs, I would love your input.

My whole goal this application season was to land one interview. I'm stoked I did it.

    School: University of Toledo

    Type: Clinical PhD

    Date of invite: Dec. 14th

Type of invite: Email from admissions coordinator; CC'd POI and DCT

    Interview date(s): Feb. 1 or Feb. 4. I'm going Feb. 1

Edit: @Jamesmp, congrats on the invite to Kent! I applied to them as well. Evidently some people have received invites and rejections already; I'm still waiting to hear back from them but I'm not sweating it too much.

Hey, can PM me your POI initials too.

Does anyone know if there is a list available anywhere of interview dates/dates we should hear back for clinical PhD programs?

    Hey all,

    https://teamup.com/ks952632ef38687f3e

I found this information on the University of North Texas website. It has a bunch of interview dates for different schools but the website also says not to depend entirely on this. Hope this helps!

I literally got a "Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays" e-mail from a school's Graduate Admissions yesterday..... It was SO unnecessary. LOL

This happened to me today and my heart could not stop beating for like 10minutes straight. I might need therapy after this.

  8. I have my email open on my computer and for some reason I keep refreshing it and waiting for something to happen. I know it is way too early but I am not the most patient person at all. I have been watching grad school vlogs on youtube, even if they are not Psychology PHD student. Hope you are all holding up well!

I also have one school missing GRE scores and one missing transcripts although I know I submitted both months ago. I contacted the admissions department and they both checked and don't have it, so I had to re-send it. A little worried that they won't consider my app since not everything was received in time (even though it wasn't my fault). Anyone have experience with anything like this?

I am currently trying my best not to panic. I think you should be fine though as long as you spoke to them and they told you to send it

  10. I almost did not submit a required document for one of my schools. I also still need to call one of my schools to check if they recieved all my document because it tells me on their website that they haven't. On a better not,  I have submitted all my applications that were due Dec 1st and my final recommender submitted his letter too. I am very close to surviving this application season. Sending everyone positive vibes!

Reading all these posts about Nebraska Lincoln, I had to google their program/see what the hype was about for myself ? Luckily no mentors with my interests, whew! Did my research well I hope lol

I thought I was the only one doing the same thing. Every-time someone applies to a school that everyone raves about I always check with baited breadth to make sure I did not miss a program that could have been a great fit for me.

I finally finished my applications (9) today. Who else is in the same boat? Also, who else feels like they can't possibly wait any longer to hear some results?! I don't expect this to go well for me, but I look forward to learning from this experience and using it for next year's applications.

Anyway, I thought it'd be nice to have a (mini) celebration thread to just be grateful that applications are done and now we move on to the next step. Good luck everyone!

I am applying to 5 PHD and 1 Masters and this is also a learning experience for me. I have submitted 3 of my applications.

I think this is the most important thing; that you are focusing on a good fit and somewhere that you will be happy!  I honestly sought out programs that had fewer applicants to raise my chances.  Sure it made my list smaller once I factored in research interests as well, but I had to be realistic that I would not get into a top ranked school, and that is 100% ok with me!

Honestly, this is all you can hope for and just do your best to stay positive during this season

@aokanlawon I’m applying to only 5 programs. I agree, I think focusing your attention on a couple of programs is the better approach. Which schools are you applying to ? I’m applying to Harvard , Bu, University of Houston ,University of Rhode Island (they don’t require the GRE &have a PI that focuses on trauma ), and Georgia State

Wow, I had no idea those programs did not take GRE. I am so jealous and wish I had applied to University of Rhode Island. The reason they give for not requiring GRE is such a valid one and it makes me feel like that's a program I want to be in.

I am also only applying to 6 schools! I felt 6 was enough and I couldn't find that many more in my interest area that were in the geographic location I wanted.

I am confident about my decision but this definitely boosted my confidence a little more even though we are applying to different concentrations.

I guess it also depends on whether you’re applying to R1s/R2s/competitive laboratories and your clinical research interests. I know for every program I’m applying to (and several colleagues in the same position as I am this app round), it’s anywhere from 50-150 students who are applying to work with specific POIs, per institution. These aren’t the number of total apps received by each program, which usually range anywhere from 200-400+.

Hope it works out for you!

I really didn't care about R1 or R2 or even the name of the school. Not that I don't care but I just want to work in a lab that merges with my research and enjoy my PHD experience(as much as i can ofcourse). Thankfully, most of the programs that are doing the work I am interested in get at the most 200 applicants in total. I don't even know how that worked out but it did and I am grateful that I have less competition. I checked all those other programs too but I was not excited about their research and I want to be excited about the research I will be involved in for the next 5 or so years.

Are you applying to Clinical Psych PhD programs? 6 schools is a low number, the process is very competitive ?

Yes, I am. I am trying to make sure I don't go bankrupt in this process and I am applying to one masters program. I also wanted to be able to focus on each school and be able to give each SOP my entire focus without having to sacrifice any application and miss anything. When I had 12 schools on the list, I found that I was having to keep up with alot and some of the schools were missing something with me that I was comfortable eliminating them.
