Hello folks! I am thrilled to have been accepted to GWU for speech. I am going to the open house at the end of March, but I would love to get some feedback from current or graduate students. Or even hear from other folks who know of the program! Any "insider info" would be terrific. It's time to start thinking of making a decision, and frankly, it's stressing me out. Thanks in advance!
Hey there. I know the feeling! I'll be there for the Accepted Students Day on April 5th!

I just heard from MGH. But they have a lot of people to call so don’t be discouraged if you didn’t get one yet. No way they already called everyone if they started today!
Do you think are calling everyone today? Or they will continue calling on Monday? They are one of my top choices, and waiting to hear is super nerve-wracking!

Getting a thread going for BU! Was so surprised to hear from BU only a week after my interview with an acceptance and a scholarship! I'm in shock and so happy right now. Congrats to all who got in. I can't wait to hear all the good news.

Congrats to you both!! That is huge that you have been accepted, so you should feel super proud of yourselves! Celebrate it this weekend ?

Good luck to you too! I wish I could say I'm waiting patiently but I've been incredibly anxious, especially since interviews at BU and Emerson last weekend. Hoping that my nerves will settle soon!
Agreed! Please keep us updated if you hear anything! I'm waiting to hear back from MGH and Emerson, but so far I have heard nothing (aside from Emerson's interview).

Did everyone where a blazer to interviews or did you wear something else. I’m not sure what to wear! Please help!
At my last interview, I wore a blazer but kept it open-- I felt like it would be too formal to wear it closed. Most people were wearing nice pants and a nice top, some with blazers and some without. I think as long as you look professional, you're fine! Hope this helps.

Yes,
I was asked what was the latest book I read. I wasn't asked any SLP content questions.
What made you want to enter the field of Speech-Language Pathology?
I can't recall the rest at this moment, but if do I will post.
That is very helpful! Thank you so much!

I also have an interview with Mercy College next Thursday.
Good Luck to us both! ?
Hi @Arcanelady27! I saw that you have applied to Lehman College. Do you have any experience with the interviews there?
-
Has anyone heard anything about the Lehman interviews?

An intro to education, fundamentals of education ect anything similar to that will do. I would assume it would have to be done through a ny school but im not sure. Good question.

You can search all of the CUNYs for online foundational education courses- looks like Hunter has a few this summer! You will probably have even more options if you decide to take the course earlier. Hope this helps!

Is anyone else interviewing at CUNY Lehman College? I have an interview with them on Friday. Does anyone know anything about what to expect? What kinds of questions to prepare for? Is there a writing element to the interview?

hello does anybody know where I can take a cheap education course online? 2 of the schools I was accepted to requires this course for the TSSLD.
what kind of education course do you need? Also, if it's for the TSSLD, would it need to be done through a New York school?

Temple sent out some acceptances last week and then again today! It looks like they're doing it in waves. Hope that helps!

any advice for someone about to interview? I go on Friday and I have no idea what to expect! What kind of questions were asked? I would appreciate any feedback!!
I think the questions depend tremendously on the school. I would search the school on here and see if you can find any advice from previous applicants. Which school are you interviewing for on Friday? I have one that day as well!

Did you email them individually? I was interviewed by 2 professors and wasn't sure what to do.
I had my interview with two professors and emailed them a "thank you" separately.

Though I can't say what they specifically asked, I am sure if you know why you love Speech Pathology or what positive attributes you can bring, you'll be more than fine! (And you'll see tomorrow after you finish!)
Thank you!! I definitely have that part down! Do you know when they'll get back to us with decisions?

Just completed the interview. If anybody in the future is looking through these threads, it was super harmless! I would say Emerson's doesn't really have questions you can prepare for. I was asked two questions in which no mock interview I've practiced included. Honestly, I'd imagine they'll change the questions so I'd recommend knowing why you want to be an SLP and some positive characteristics which will make you successful as a student and clinician!
Thanks, @Procaffeination! I'm dreading giving the "tell me about yourself" pitch which I'm assuming I'll have to give-- is that one of the questions they ended up giving you?
Thanks for the heads up-- sounds like it'll be a lot of thinking on our feet! I have mine tomorrow.

Hi all! Is anyone bringing anything to their interviews this week? Resume/CV, Statement of Purpose, anything? I assume they are doing the interviews back-to-back, so I would think they wouldn't have just read our SOPs? Should I go into the interview thinking they know nothing about me before I walk into the room?

Hi I noticed that a bunch of people are going up to Boston for Emerson interviews. I applied to Emerson but I haven’t heard back from them at all. Does anyone know if there are multiple rounds of decision notifications?
Hi Lnk17! I'm not sure if you're talking about the online or residential program, but I know the interviews for the residential program is this weekend. People have said that in past years a small portion of people are accepted without interviewing, but I think that's rare. Hope this information helps!

I am so glad I am not alone. The application process was certainly not fun, but I never anticipated the extent of anxiety I'd be going through during this waiting! I know most schools I've applied to haven't sent any acceptances out until the beginning of March, so the obsessive checking is totally irrational and unnecessary, but I'm still doing it!
Today I got an email from one of the schools I applied to with the subject "[University] Admissions", and I didn't know why I'd be hearing a month earlier than expected, but my heart started pounding anyway. Turns out it was just a generic email thanking me for my interest in the school, whether or not I'd applied. I didn't know whether to feel relieved or disappointed!! The waiting game is definitely going to be long and difficult.
Does anyone have any tips for waiting it out? What do you do instead of checking for any news? What does everyone do for fun or to de-stress?

I'm confused, because on CSDCAS, the deadline is listed as February 15th, does Adelphi have rolling admissions? Or did you apply for a term other than fall 2019?
I believe they had an earlier deadline last year, so that is why people heard back much earlier than they are this year.

I've heard it's more of a conversation and very comfortable! Probably good to know an "elevator pitch" for why you want to be an SLP, what labs/programs you're interested in, and besides that, I hear they have very unique questions. I've read that, for the most part, you can't totally prepare. Knowing why you want to be an SLP and why you'd want to attend Emerson are key, though (and that goes for all interviews I'd imagine).
Thanks, @ubercool-RA! I see you listed the interview as taking place on 2/23. How do you know which of your preferred times they selected? Did they send you back a specific time? I requested times on 2/24, but I haven't heard back yet.

Congrats! I just heard from Emerson as well!
I have heard that it doesn't hurt your chances at all if you use Skype! Also, in the past people have said Emerson's interviews are only 5 to 10 minutes-- I don't know if that's still the case, but if so, Skype definitely would make sense.
Does anyone know what kinds of questions they will ask during the interview?
