I completely feel this! I applied to 9 schools that were spread across the U.S. anticipating that I would have a difficult time getting into schools... I wish I had cut down on schools I know I didn't want to attend... this is surely a lesson learned haha!

Same here! I was so nervous about not getting in to places and putting all of my eggs into one or two baskets that I ended up applying to way more than I needed. I applied to 9 and almost applied to 10. The irony is that I will most likely attend the program that was the first application I submitted. In which case, I wouldn't have needed to apply to 8 other schools afterwards and could have saved myself a whole lot of effort! Oh well. Who knew??

I got waitlisted. Not very surprised considering they seemed annoyed that I’m interested in research ? probably won’t be accepting my place on the waitlist. Hope that means someone else moves up! Good luck to everyone who hasn’t heard!

Did you get an email or did you just check the portal?

I wonder if they're holding off on scholarship information until they get a better understanding of who will be accepting their offers... I didn't get offered a scholarship, but it would be great to get more info on it further down the line as we approach April 15th, etc. ;)

Same! I'm hoping I'll get some funding, but I was so freaked out by the time I got the phone call about not having heard yet, that I forgot to ask anything about it over the phone. ? But I am worried about the cost of the program, some information about scholarships, like just if I am or am not eligible for one, would be very helpful right now!

I think you could phrase it like "I know your cohort recently doubled. Has that had any effect on clinical placements and class sizes?". They'll probably tell you no and that everything is great because they want you to come to their program but it couldn't hurt to ask!

Thanks, yeah! They probably will, honestly, but it's worth a shot!

As someone who is completing their undergrad in the DC area, I have heard some mixed things about GW's program. This is what I've heard from GW itself and from master's students in the area.

Pros: their eight "tracks (sub-clinics) give you exposure to all types of disorders before you do your externships, the professors are friendly

Cons: they doubled their cohort size a year or two ago and people are falling through the cracks because they didn't really plan for class sizes and external placements.

I'm not going to lie, D.C. is an expensive city to live in too. While GW could be more expensive for a private school, the cost of living mixed with private school costs are still something to consider when tied to the mixed reviews.

This is very helpful, thanks! I saw someone saying that about the negatives of the cohort doubling on here, but I wasn't sure if that just one person's thoughts or a general consensus. Will definitely have to consider that. Do you think it is weird if I ask faculty about if they feel similarly when I go visit?

I just got my call today at 1PM PST! Seems like multiple faculty members are calling the students. Faculty that called me is someone I’ve admired in the field for a while now and I even mentioned her in my personal statement, so it was so exhilarating to have her call me!

Good luck to everyone and congratulations to those who got in too!

    That's amazing! Congrats!

If you're like me and have been spending a slightly unhealthy amount of time on this website in the last few weeks (whoops), or you're needing some cheering up, check out this thread for lots of laughs. It's the good, the bad, and the ugly, and not only does it make some rejections hurt less, but some of the posts are so funny that it's pretty much the most wholesome thing on this site.

Don't forget self-care during this wild time. Enjoy!! ?

GW Graduate Admissions emailed it out on 3/1. If you message me your email I can forward it to you! I believe it's a gathering for all accepted graduate students and not just specific to CSD (someone correct me if I'm wrong!) - is the open house department specific? I think I must have missed the announcement for that.

Yes, you're correct. I'm not sure if the open house is CSD only, but it's on their website-- I didn't get an email about it.

Absolutely! Also, I didn't know about the Accepted Students day - where is that info? Unfortunately, I'm not going to be make it either way. So I will also need the low-down!

I am doing the open house on March 29. Are either of you going to that?

I won't be there, since I'll most likely be there a week later! I got this email-- I want to find out who from the SLP program will actually be there, but it's pretty cool!

I submitted my application for Nova Southeastern back at the end of October for the Summer 2019 cohort, and never heard anything back from them. Although I would have withdrew my application if I were offered an interview (as I thankfully got accepted to a school that is located much closer to me), I still thought it was a bit odd that I never heard anything, even a rejection. Just wanted to see if anyone else had a similar situations as me! :)

Personally, I would call them and ask! Sounds like you don't have anything to lose ?

@raspie Sweet - I've been seeing some results online. I haven't gotten anything yet haha oh well!

I just got the call!!! I was freaking out that I hadn't heard yet, but they're still making the rounds! You could hear anytime in between now and Thursday. ?

that’s like when I was rejected after interview and in the email they were like “I’m sure you will do well wherever you choose to attend” which is nice except for the part where I definitely mentioned to them at some point during the visit that I didn’t have any other offers

:(:( ooof your post hit me in the feels.

one more school to go, though, it looks like?
  13. Keep up hope! It looks like you're still waiting on some schools, and you never know what they'll say! Also, if it doesn't work out now, you can always take a gap year and apply next year. Or some schools offer spring admission!

I just got my call! SO relieved. Sadly no scholarship as of now so I'll just have to wait it out for a while.

Congrats! Did you get the call today then? That's a relief that they're still calling!
