  1. Yes, it is! We'll be sending out the recording from the first session if you haven't already gotten it, and will be adding people from the form to our email list for invites and resources throughout the program. Excited to see you there
  2. Hi all! I'm helping run an application boot camp this summer that includes panels on each part of the application process and workgroups to solicit feedback from peers and current grad students on research goals, program and lab selection, and application materials. If you think this would be helpful, we'd love to have you! And best of luck to everyone applying this cycle - it's a rough process, so just remember that you are deserving no matter the outcome.
  3. I agree with what others have posted about clinical psychology not being the only option, or even the best option, if you want to become a clinician. I also wanted to push back against the mentor model being outdated (not specifically against this specific poster, but wanted to quote to continue the discussion). I know that medical school and occasional other grad programs, have rotations, but med school especially has the goal of becoming a practitioner. You can specialize in a particular area of practice after that, but there is an expectation for some base level of competency. I think this is an unreasonable expectation to put on grad students, to become clinical practitioners and simultaneously generalist researchers across all of clinical psychology before also becoming an expert in a specific area. To really push the boundaries of current knowledge - which is the goal of doctoral training IMO - we need to become so deeply knowledgeable in such a small area that I can’t imagine accomplishing that in a reasonable time without a mentor model. This isn’t to say that other types of training aren’t valuable for our current society, but I do see a need for the type of training a phd in clinical psychology provides. I just think it’s also more narrow than many of us would sometimes like to believe.
  4. Along these lines, wondering whether y’all think there’ll be more interviews going out to a second batch of candidates this year (like... late invites or invites after the formal interview weekend) since it sounds like people generally applied to more school with reduced application and travel costs this year, so top candidates likely have a bunch of invites and can only end up at one school.
  5. Why are people freaking out on the results page again?
  6. I also haven’t heard back from them. Not sure how much we’ll be able to trust prior timelines with the increased apps though
  7. Also surprised about Utah’s being so early. They’ll likely send out interview invites soon, which is exciting, although the PI I applied to wasn’t sure if she was going to accept a student (although she encouraged me to apply anyway).
  8. If the person who posted from Alabama sees this, could you PM your POI?
  9. Yeah 100% of the time lol. But not always linked with my application
  10. I would call. I’ve had a few glitches like that, and generally the admissions office has been very quick and kind in fixing them. Plus, I’d much rather spend a few minutes on the phone than stress about it for the next week!
  11. How did it go?? I also just scheduled a call with a possible advisor and want to make sure I’m as prepared as possible. Also finally getting ready to start applications and both excited and nervous, especially about the personal statement.
  12. Yup, I think that means it's passed whatever central body initially collects applications and/or does a basic review and is with the department. Good luck!
  13. Yeah I haven’t heard anything from any of my programs and this describes my life all too well...
  14. Hi y'all! Quick app question: I took two online masters classes in forensic psychology this fall and got my final grades last night; I did quite well. I sent the transcripts without final grades to my schools, but should I also now send transcripts with grades to my schools as well? Not sure if the grades would help me given I don't have a psychology background, or if they'll even be looked at.
  15. Thanks so much for making this! Although the existence of this thread is terrifying...
  16. I'd honestly be ok with this since I haven't gotten any of these emails yet!
  17. Well.... that doesn't make me feel any better lol. Thanks for the update though, definitely better than not knowing
  18. Have people actually lied there in the last? That's pretty shitty given how crazy we all are lol
  19. I can't decide if I'm thrilled or terrified to have discovered this... Thanks! If anyone finds out the POI, would love to know as well
