  1. Berkeley and Harvard have cancelled.
  2. I have a somewhat random question - do international students know whether we should apply for a tourist visa for the visiting weekend? There seems to also be a different one for those 'attending meetings or conferences' and I'm just not sure whether it would fit into this category?
  3. I'm not sure about Yale. I think just one person said they'd been invited for an interview, but I'm not sure if that is a standard to thing to do, and what this means for everyone else. However, there was a big conversation about Columbia and we are pretty confident all the acceptances have been sent out (they only accepted 14 of 340 applicants, so it was a rough year).
  4. Yeah, I'm so confused about the Columbia situation... it seems like most people have heard nothing and none of the admitted or rejected people have posted on the forum. If you have heard from Columbia in any way please post here and share info!
  5. Oh this is such a relief. Yes, I had the same fear @kkr_soc, that they accidentally contacted the wrong person and now they are just trying to figure out how to back-peddle (I actually dreamt it last night)! Thank you everyone for quelling my anxiety somewhat, and *hopefully* (still won't believe it until I see it in the portal) I'll get to meet you all at the visit weekend!
  6. Did any of the Berkeley acceptances get the formal letter of acceptance yesterday like one of the POIs said we would? At this point I haven't received anything formal from the uni or department and I'm getting worried this is all one big practical joke!
  7. Thank you @sociopolitic, tbh I've already had a few drinks and was a bit worried I'd celebrated too early! Congratulations to you also on your acceptances, your research sounds so fascinating!
  8. Hi all, I'm an international student, so not so familiar with funding in the USA, but was lucky enough to be contacted by my POI today from Berkeley saying that I'd be accepted. Do you think people contacted today would have a good chance of funding, or should we hold off getting too excited/ drunk? Are they likely to offer places to people without funding?
  9. I definitely feel you @gradgirrrl. I also knew my GRE scores weren't **great** but thought they were okay, until I came on this forum and realised the types of scores people are actually getting. I feel like the scores websites online (and the universities themselves) publish as the average admitted scores are a lot lower than reality.
