  1. I'll be attending the university of Tennessee beginning this fall and from what they said on our interview day, their students receive paid internships.
  2. Thank you! I think I was in shock for the first couple of days but now I'm just excited. Also relieved that I don't have to sit and wonder/worry anymore. What a stressful process. I hope everyone gets the news they're hoping for!
  3. Just updated my previous posts....my interview at University of Tennessee went really well and I was accepted! I am very excited and can't wait to start. I've seen some posts about interviewing. I agree with others who have mentioned bringing a folio or something professional looking to keep your CV in, just in case. Maybe this is common sense, but I also wanted to say make sure you're treating any time you spend with current students as an interview as well. Be personable with them, as they want to know how you'd fit in, but be appropriate. A couple people that interviewed let their manners slip some when we were with the students and the students didn't look impressed. And, ladies, if you're not someone who wears heels every day, wear flats to your interview! We took a long walk around campus after the interviews and the girls in heels were clearly in a lot of pain. Good luck to everyone!
  4. Thank you! Yes, Eastern KY and Spalding are both psyd programs. I did hear from UK that I was rejected, but that's okay, need to stay positive! Best of luck to you.
  5. Hi! I have one interview so far for University of Tennessee, but I don't think most of the schools I applied for are as competitive as the ones you did. I'm not that familiar with those on your list. I applied to UT, UK, and UNC for school psych and Eastern Kentucky and Spalding for clinical. I'm happy to share my info with you though. I had an unimpressive but not bad gpa in undergrad, BS in psych. I got a master's in health administration and had a gpa of 3.89. I took the GRE a few years ago, 151, 151 and a 4 on writing. I don't have any research experience (eek), but I have an interesting employment history that I'm hoping helps me out. I worked for several years in group homes with adults with developmental disabilities. I then worked for Children's protective services for a while. Now I'm the program supervisor at a community mental health organization and oversee a day program, work program, community services team and group home all for people with developmental disabilities or mental illness. From what I've read, they look at GRE and have cutoffs, but if you are excellent in other areas they will usually look past the GRE. That's the schools I've applied to, anyway. Obviously I'm no expert, but I think you sound very competitive. Good luck! UT and UK were my only programs due on December 1st....I've heard from Tennessee like I mentioned but nothing yet from UK.
  6. Not sure if you've ever visited, but Utah is beautiful! I went to Weber State in SLC for my master's and I loved the area. The mountains are gorgeous. Good luck!
  7. Looking at past years it seems maybe we'll be hearing something pretty soon if we are offered interviews....& thank you so much! Very nervous yet excited.
  8. Yes! Thank you very much. I couldn't believe it. I don't know if I should be nervous about how quickly I heard something or if it's a good thing. I'm so anxious for the process to keep moving along. I'm an overthinker so all of this time in limbo is not good for me (lol).
  9. I'm applying to 3 school psych PhD programs and 2 PsyD programs. All apps are in! I've applied to University of Kentucky, University of Tennessee-Knoxville, and UNC-Chapel Hill for school psych, and Spalding and Eastern Kentucky for clinical. So far I have an interview at Tennessee....frantically checking my email! And stressing about what an interview could mean for my chances and how nervous I should continue to be. Waiting to hear from the others. I didn't find the application process too bad but this waiting is awful. Good luck to everyone!
