  1. I am currently an EdS student in a NASP approved program. The most important thing, which you did, is to go to a NASP approved program. NASP approved programs have standards they are required to meet, therefore the coursework quality should be roughly the same. There are some very well known names in the field though (U of Oregon, U of Washington, UCONN). These are the big names I've heard of, but I've also been told the funding for the specialist programs at these places is subpar. If you'd like to message me about the program you got into, I may be able to tell you what I've heard or other suggestions I have when choosing a program.
  2. I was waitlisted at UW, haven’t had an interview or anything. But it’s good to know about funding, because that is a make or break for me (even though I don’t think I’ll get in there).
  3. I have my interview tomorrow morning, so I’ll ask then. From what I’ve read on the website, they do phone interviews, accept students, then invite to campus. But I could be wrong. I’ll let you know once I find out! And I did receive a similar email. It’s super easy to fill out the survey, so I would recommend doing it even if you haven’t gotten an interview yet!
  4. I received an email last week for a phone interview with my potential POI. I have that tomorrow. Maybe depends on who you requested and if they’ve gone through apps?
  5. So once you are an NCSP (National Certified School Psychologist), it is very easy to move between states. I looked at the AZ requirements and they will license non-US citizens so thats great news. I'm sure there are a lot of other states that will too. As for being bilingual, there are many programs in Spanish....I don't know of any in Mandarin. But once you go through your program, you can research which tests are in Mandarin and then give them. The program will teach you how to learn new tests so you could teach yourself how to give one in Mandarin. Mandarin isn't as widely used as Spanish but I think it is used in larger cities with higher Chinese populations. I am originally from Chicago and it is more commonly spoken there. Also, San Francisco has a large Chinese population. NYC might...I haven't been. It is just a great asset to have because there may be parents and children that don't speak English. Good luck!!!
  6. That's super disappointing. But you could go to Lehigh, then move. I live in AZ and I believe we license non US citizens. There have been a few people come through the program here that aren't citizens yet. I would check into it! Where are you from, out of curiosity? If you are bilingual, that's awesome. We need more bilingual psych's.
  7. I was waitlisted and didn’t write a letter of continued interest. I have one acceptance and 3 more interviews. If it were my top choice and I didn’t have other opportunities, I wouldve likely written a letter. However, it is my last choice.
  8. So one of my interviews...there is a hike on Saturday morning. I am super stoked for this, but at a loss for attire. I normally wear yoga pants and a loose tshirt when I workout...but I'm wondering if that is too casual or inappropriate...maybe some loose pants (that aren't yoga pants). Any suggestions? Also, for the socials, would it be best to wear slacks and a jacket? Or go a little more casual for the social? Most of mine have socials the evening before the interviews, so I don't want to be under dressed because this is the first impression! Thanks
  9. Hm... I saw they sent out invites as late as Jan 20 last year, so maybe there is still hope? I have other interviews so I'm not too worried but still disappointing. Good luck!
  10. I was wondering if anyone applied to U of Washington or U of North Carolina at Chapel Hill? If so, have you heard back? Thanks!
  11. I went to NAU for undergrad and lived there for three years afterwards. I absolutely loved NAU and Flagstaff. Flag will always have a special place in my heart. If you have any questions, let me know! A thing to be aware of about Flag is the cost of living. The housing prices are crazy high, but seem to be improving. Also, minimum wage is set to increase to $15 per hour by 2020 or 2021, so everything else is increasing in price. But again... I love the town and would go back if I could afford it!
  12. I am currently a student in the EdS program at the University of Arizona. My classes are with PhD students. If you have any questions, let me know!
  13. Hi! I applied to northern Colorado and haven’t heard anything yet. Fingers crossed!! ??
  14. I was hoping they mentioned it during the information session. I was able to talk to KR outside of the information session. His lab sounds perfect. Still eagerly checking my email. Good luck! And happy new year
  15. I did apply to the school psych program at MSU.... I hope they aren't finished sending out invites, but I'm assuming I didn't get one I was unable to attend the online session in November. Hopefully this doesn't hurt me! I wonder how many people apply to the Utah program? And how many they accept. Any ideas?
  16. I was sad to see that someone receives an interview invite from Michigan state. I had three top schools and that was one of them. So I’m crossing my fingers for Utah! As for POI I put KR and EC. Good luck!!
  17. So I am new to this forum and not sure how to respond yet. @ASDadvocate I also applied to University of Utah and it is one of my top choices. I am trying not to get discouraged because I haven't heard anything yet and I also saw from last year that they reached out on Xmas Eve. Hopefully we hear something soon! I have two interviews lined up...one for January and one for February, which I'm super excited for!! One of these schools is in my top choices as well. Good luck!
