OregonSLP reacted to PNWSpeech in Who's trying again?!
    Hi everyone!
No grad school for me this fall, which is okay Who else is beefing up their resumes and trying again?? I was rejected everywhere but one school last year (couldn't afford it, turned it down), was wait listed at 5 schools this year and rejected at 3, seems like we're on track to get in if I keep putting in the work haha.
Congrats to everyone who got in this year, can't wait to work with you all in the future. Logging off for a few months - what a process

@Mikaela25 don't give up girl!! I almost did this past year and it honestly would have been the biggest mistake I've could have done! I've worked as a SLPA in the schools going on three years and have gotten rejected twice from graduate school. I wanted to give up, but my family and supervisors have been so supportive and have encouraged me to keep going, so I'm encouraging you and anyone else who wants to stop, to do the same. Eventually a door will open, and all the while you're waiting for the opportunity, continue to build yourself in all areas to make sure you're the BEST applicant for the programs you're applying to!

First year grad student here! I was taken off the waiting list for the school that I'm currently attending. And actually, it was the only school I got into. I was rejected from everywhere else. So I TOTALLY understand what you're feeling. They talked a lot about "imposter syndrome" my first semester. If you aren't familiar, look it up! I felt like I wasn't good enough either, and it always feels like you're the only one that feels that way, but I guarantee you're not! As you start your program (CONGRATULATIONS!), keep this in mind as the "waitlist" mentality stuck with me.
Most professors will either not remember or don't care, and honestly people in your cohort don't really care either.
I was tight lipped about getting in off the waitlist, until someone else confided in me that they were taken off the waiting list. In fact, four people, including myself, were taken off the waiting list. So chances are, you're not the only one either. But of course, keep that information to yourself if that's what you want! Nothing wrong with that either.
Like @KelsHud said, know your worth. You are 10000% valuable and qualified to be in your dream program. Don't deny yourself the full experience and elation of getting into your dream program! That's a big deal!
    Again, congratulations!!

If anyone is interested in loan forgiveness options after graduation, do plenty of research and make sure youVOTE. The current administration is looking to gut some of these programs to get more money for a racist wall.

Hey y'all. What are you guys thinking about Boulder? Have any of you visited the campus or Boulder in general? Still waiting on a few but it's feeling like the front runner for me right now.
