I just took myself off of Indiana University's waitlist hope this helps someone! -
Also, admitted at University of Washington. Congrats! Can I ask what your area of interest is?

*US Rep. Maxine Waters voice*: They're reclaiming their (tea) time

@kendalldinniene @Anonymouse124 @mandelbulb Thank you all so much!!

I got into the University of Washington!!

Hiya! I'm a Victorianist

dress code for visits??

@kendalldinniene I’d probably take a pair of slacks just in case. Even if you decide not to wear them, they’d be something good to have on hand. Then again, I’m a notorious over-packer, so maybe don’t trust my judgment ? -
I feel you! I’m really invested in my Rutgers application, so I’ve been pretty antsy

Hey! I messaged a friend who is getting her PhD at Rutgers when that stray result got posted and she said that she hadn’t hear anything about them sending out notifications yet!!
-
I’m in at CUNY!! ?? Received an email from a POI around 2 pm

Hi! UMD alum here. I can't offer any specifics, but I messaged on of my LOR writers about getting waitlisted at Indiana and they said that UMD accepted "several" students from its waitlist last year. Sorry I can't offer anything more concrete than that.
-
To add to this conversation, it looks as though CUNY sent out acceptances over 2-3 days last year. Hopefully it'll be the same case this year!
-
Admitted without funding as well. Congrats to you!
-
Okay; thanks for the info!
-
Did they say something about you being waitlisted for funding or did they refer you to people who might be able to help you find other funding sources (which is what happened in my case)
-
I'm in at Georgetown with no departmental funding. I've just emailed someone with the department to see if there's a chance I might be offered funding later (if one of their funded admits accepts an offer elsewhere). Not the result I was hoping for, but better than a rejection I suppose. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
Congrats!

Did anyone else here apply to Georgetown's MA program? There's a single acceptance posted on the board, but it seems like it's a lot earlier than they typically notify.
-
I noticed from the board that last year people received decisions over the phone with some variability on dates. Maybe some more acceptances will trickle in tomorrow. I, for one, I sure hope so!!

I got an encouraging notification that I'm on the waiting list at Indiana. A welcome change from the results I've gotten so far -
LOR alma mater questions/thoughts
mwils15 replied to victoriansimpkins's topic in Literature, and Rhetoric and Composition
I would speculate that it more matters if our LOR writers know faculty who are on adcoms in a given year. If an application reader personally knows someone who wrote an LOR that could make a difference I’d imagine. It might be the case that sometimes profs have especially strong ties to faculty at their alma maters, but not always -
Thanks for the reply. It looks like I’m either waitlisted or denied then ?
-
@snorkles do you already have an MA? The only reason ask is because their MA and PhD programs are integrated. Because their website instructs those with just a BA to indicate the MA as their degree choice, I’m wondering if the adcomm delineates between those coming straight from undergrad and those who have completed master’s degrees when notifying.
