I don’t think the financial aid office offers you anything other than standard, non-subsidized loans. The art department is probably where your tuition/GTA funding comes from. 

I got an acceptance letter from SMFA!!!!! And a $15,000 a year scholarship!!!!! If there was an emoji for fainting and then laying on the ground giggling with glee that would be me haha. SOOOOO much RELIEF!!! Hopefully this is just the first acceptance and I’ll have some options but if not, I’m BEYOND HAPPY and I am DETERMINED to figure out funding this! 

If you don’t need a diploma, I am sure almost any art program in the country would accomodate what you are looking for. Or you could transfer your old credits in to cover the gen-ed and then focus on your studios while working on the undergrad art degree. But why do you want the MFA at this point? It seems a little early.

I got accepted to Pratt, and they offered me $60,000($15,000/semester)!!!
I'm still waiting results for other schools but I'm SOOOOO excited XD!!!!!!!!!
I have no idea about average amount of scholarship so I'm wondering is it normal amount of scholarship from Pratt?
 
And I'm waiting for results from these schools.

@sparky7184 Hang in there! From what I can tell, we are all in the same boat as far as anxiety about this process goes. On the bright side though, this at least shows how important furhering our studies is to us.

They seem to do it early. I know someone who got their UDel acceptance a few hours ago via email, plus all of the three GrdCafe results show notifications going out within a week or so after 2/15, assuming the deadline has stayed static.

Well put, and yes, this process sucks. I really underestimated how stressful it would be. Hang in there! 
I just went for a walk in a nearby nature preserve and made a bunch of photos. It felt great to make a lot of new work and be alone in the tranquilty of those woods. I might try to keep making work to distract me from the waiting.

also y'all - someone said this earlier: THIS PROCESS IS DEHUMANIZING.
let's not forget that all universities have essentially become corporations, and that as artists, school is a tiny fraction of our efforts. significant, but still small. our journey, with art and for art, will likely be thread throughout the entirety of our lives. there is a trajectory the work will walk, and it is our honor, and our duty, to protect it and fight for it. everything else is probably an illusion. highfives all around. you rock.

I'm wondering how common it is to interview and still get rejected? Some people already got acceptances from SAIC and I'm trying to hold out hope but I am Soooooo nervous.

Hi everyone.
Interviewed at SAIC for Fiber on Saturday, and Diana called me today. I missed her call so she emailed me with fellowship and acceptance into the MFA program. I havent heard anything from VCU Fiber or Univ of Iowa Dimensional Studies.  
This is a roller coaster so stay warm and take care. 

Just received my second acceptance!
Accepted into the Contemporary Art Practice MFA program at Portland State via email.
Hope the good fortune falls upon you all this week as well! 

My understanding is that you have until April 15 to make a decision. This is the agreed upon date for grad schools in the US.

Basically, they say it is acceptable only when you are waiting to hear back from other schools (as you are), and I would have to agree. If you do decide to cancel your acceptance and accept a second offer, I would just let the first school know ASAP so that someone else has a chance to take your spot. Honestly, these different programs should try to figure out a universal timeline so that this is not even an issue.

VCU says notifications for interviews go out late Feb with acceptance decisions going out in early April, so you probably have some time to wait. 

Everything I have heard about Yale MFA is that they do not want you straight out of undergrad—this comes from my past instructors with Yale MFAs and also people on here that are repeating what they allegedly heard at open houses for Yale. So, don’t take it too bad that you did not get in.
