  1. Is anyone else debating between Hopkins vs. an on-site full-time program? If so, what factors are you considering?
  2. This is anecdotal on what's changed for me since last year, so I can't promise what specifically made the difference, but hopefully this is helpful for those waitlisted/future lurkers who are planning their applications... I happened to have started a new job (this wasn't intentional) so I was able to easily expand my skill set in the new position. I revised my personal statement to reflect my new responsibilities, and tried to clarify what I wanted to get out of the degree, how it could affect my current work, and my ultimate career goals. I tried to emphasize how I can contribute to the school, i.e. what I bring to the table. I also connected with several professors at the school, to understand how they may be able to help support me in my prospective dissertation. I also reached out to current and past students to understand more about their experience and how the schools pitch themselves. I definitely encourage you to get at least one new recommendation letter, you can also try for a letter of support from those professors. I'd also make sure the language in your resume matches the language the program uses in how they describe desirable candidates.
  3. Hi Baylis, I applied to Implementation Science last year and was rejected. This year I applied to HPM (leadership) and was accepted... it has very few track requirements and I intend to take implementation and informatics courses for my electives. It seems it might be a less competitive track?
  4. Also, I didn't advertise this before but FWIW, I applied to Hopkins last year and was rejected, and then had success all around this year. So fine tuning your application and getting more pointed experience apparently really does make a difference!
  5. Ahh thank you @TopofthemuffinTOYOU for the heads up, and congrats!!! I'm also in at Hopkins!!! Now time for me to make a decision eeeek
  6. Either Healthcare Management or Public Health Informatics -- said either way I'd be complementing my main focus area with electives from the other. (My interests are in health tech management.)
  7. Well this is a busy day, just got accepted to Boston with a partial scholarship!!
  8. Waiting on Boston, Harvard and Hopkins before I make my decision.. I've always lived in the northeast so the cross-country move is a little intimidating!
  9. I found out I've been offered a fellowship from Berkeley to cover tuition! Thought I'd share to give hope that funding is indeed out there for DrPH degrees ?
  10. Hey @Dr Muhammed Koya, Boston told me at the interview that they only interview ~20 candidates for 8-10 spots -- so pretty much 50/50. Similar notions about creating a cohesive cohort. They said that getting an interview was a major milestone. They also shared that they try to cover ~40% of funding for students, but this varies. If not through grants/scholarships, that there's TA/RA positions available.
  11. Hi drph2019 -- congrats on your interviews! I'm wondering... did you get the sense the Harvard interviews were about clarifying aspects of your application (what I've inferred from previous years' threads), or did they seem to be requirements for acceptance?
  12. Hello, I've been following for a while and thought I'd join in. Interviewed at Boston for DrPH mid-January. Haven't heard back since, but they said late Feb-early March. I know they try to be a little earlier than the others. Accepted to Berkeley DrPH late January. Was told there are grants available but I was ineligible as I'm Canadian. They've been very helpful trying to find me teaching and research assistant positions to make the school more financially viable. Will be attending Admitted Students Day March 18 and would love to meet anyone else who might be there! Waiting on Hopkins, Boston and Harvard.
