  1. No clue. Still haven't heard back from anywhere, which is to be expected - most of my schools are late bloomers in the cycle. So who knows!
  2. Two things. (1) take everything you read on this forum with a grain of salt. As far as I'm aware, nobody here is on an ad com, and even if they were, they probably wouldn't break confidentiality on an internet forum. (2) Hope is a weird thing. Too much of it and you'll be destroyed when the rejection comes; not enough and you lose confidence and stop believing that you can do the things you want to do. Personally, I'm bracing for rejections, but there's no point in calling it quits until you're actually rejected. There's a big difference between being realistic and being defeatist. So who knows! There are posts on the results page of people being accepted to Cornell off the waitlist in mid April. It ain't over 'till the fat lady sings.
  3. I mean, Cornell just sent out acceptances on Thursday, so it hasn't been that long. Also, not to provide false hope, but waitlists are real. It's not a rejection until it shows up in your inbox.
  4. Also think this is a great idea. Hope the cycle is going as well as it can for everyone!
  5. Finishing up my MA at the moment! What about you?
  6. I hear you. I'd love to know why the American schools have the mid-Dec deadline and the Canadian schools wait until January. It'd be so nice to hear back about everything at once, instead of the longer wait...
  7. Hey yo theorists keep me in the loop if the discussion moves out of the general board - I'd love to hear your thoughts as well.
  8. Hey gang! Someone just asked over in Waiting It Out and I thought I'd get a thread started here for convenience, and also outside the main thread so the American-exclusive crowd doesn't have to deal with this. I've only applied to the University of Toronto, but I don't expect to hear from them for a couple weeks yet. To anyone else applying in Canada, have you had any luck? I know @as2472 has already heard back from UBC - congratulations! And good luck everyone!!
  9. You might want to start a thread over in the Political Science forum as it might get more visibility there. Someone there has been accepted into UBC. I've seen a couple York acceptances go by on the results page. I also applied to UoT and have not heard back yet, but don't expect to hear anything until early March, as from the results page last year's mid Feb seems to be a bit of an anomaly. No word yet on McGill, it seems. Hope that helps!
  10. It seems like it. But I've been thinking for the last week This seems so bizarre to me. Has anyone ever heard of a university sending out a group email of unofficial acceptances before? Wondering if this has anything to do with it.
  11. I wish there was a 'solidarity' response - I don't want to 'like' your post, because that sucks. As people have been saying, though, this forum is 100% self-selected - you're certainly not the only one in your position. The process is such a crap-shoot (hell, I'm still waiting to hear back from anywhere, so I could very well be joining you in a few weeks), and it doesn't reflect upon who you are or what you're going to do. This whole process is so brutal, and I wish you success in whatever direction you choose to go after this. At the very least, you've got closure and are released from the endless cycle of refreshing and worrying! It's not much, but it's something.
  12. Have you heard back from everywhere at this point? :(
  13. From what I've been told Yale does not conduct interviews, but take that with a handful of salt.
  14. Congrats to both of you!! That's so exciting. Off to go refresh my inbox furiously ?
  15. Congrats!!! Just an email, or was there a link to a portal to see?
  16. I think that's the definition of cruel and unusual punishment.
  17. I applied a couple years ago (cycle for fall 2017 start), and I received a rejection on Feb 21st (a Tuesday). If I recall right the admits came out late the week before (17th-19th)? Not that it means anything, we're all the blind leading the blind here, but fwiw it was one of the later American schools to send out offers.
  18. Lesson Learned: Apply to a couple universities that release decisions earlier in the cycle so that when this thread gets posted next year you're not still out of your mind waiting to hear back.
  19. That unreal feeling when... ? Congrats!!
  20. If it's a snow ATM somebody waived the withdrawal fee... it hasn't stopped since yesterday afternoon.
  21. Hey gang. Sitting in the middle of a snowstorm atm plugging away on school stuff and trying unsuccessfully to distract myself from my inbox. I'm reading some of the comments above and it's making my heart full. Everyone here is a smart, capable scholar who will find success no matter the result of this application cycle, and I hope everyone's managing to keep it level, regardless of the # of acceptances. Keep on digging through!
  22. Anyone else still waiting to hear back from anywhere? My schools are all fairly late in the cycle so I'm 100% still sitting on my hands waiting for any kind of news.
