I will go to BU. I love their program a lot, and it is the best fit possible. I love the department and professors and feel very connected even though I did not meet most of the professors. They have very good placement rate and also really close to my current home.

Response from Yale regarding their decisions was that they don't have a set date and that all the decisions will be sent out by 1st Week of March!

Hey!
I'm a Canadian, currently living in the UK. I've applied mostly to US schools, but also U of T (where I did my undergrad) and McGill. Obviously, have heard nothing at all yet. Also theory!

Two things. (1) take everything you read on this forum with a grain of salt. As far as I'm aware, nobody here is on an ad com, and even if they were, they probably wouldn't break confidentiality on an internet forum. (2) Hope is a weird thing. Too much of it and you'll be destroyed when the rejection comes; not enough and you lose confidence and stop believing that you can do the things you want to do. Personally, I'm bracing for rejections, but there's no point in calling it quits until you're actually rejected. There's a big difference between being realistic and being defeatist. So who knows! There are posts on the results page of people being accepted to Cornell off the waitlist in mid April. It ain't over 'till the fat lady sings.

PBandMachiajelly reacted to Theory007 in Political Theory Applications 2019
Let's get this thread going! I am more analytically oriented I think and ultimately have some interests in methodology in political theory. If normative positions conflict, maybe a shift in methodological approach can alleviate that conflict. That's quite abstract but can be explored though a variety of questions, including by drawing from democratic theory.

I mean, Cornell just sent out acceptances on Thursday, so it hasn't been that long. Also, not to provide false hope, but waitlists are real. It's not a rejection until it shows up in your inbox.

I am hoping to use this thread to bring aspiring political theorists together to discuss admissions results from 2019.

I have yet to hear anything from Canadian schools yet. Last year Toronto was mid Feb with results, but I think you're right, that late Feb-early March is more likely. From what I have heard, the bulk of admissions for most schools come out the last week of Feb to early March. I get a mini heart attack each time I see the results page, with the American cycle being ahead of us...

You might want to start a thread over in the Political Science forum as it might get more visibility there. Someone there has been accepted into UBC. I've seen a couple York acceptances go by on the results page. I also applied to UoT and have not heard back yet, but don't expect to hear anything until early March, as from the results page last year's mid Feb seems to be a bit of an anomaly. No word yet on McGill, it seems. Hope that helps!

Hey gang! Someone just asked over in Waiting It Out and I thought I'd get a thread started here for convenience, and also outside the main thread so the American-exclusive crowd doesn't have to deal with this. I've only applied to the University of Toronto, but I don't expect to hear from them for a couple weeks yet. To anyone else applying in Canada, have you had any luck? I know @as2472 has already heard back from UBC - congratulations! And good luck everyone!!

Hey yo theorists keep me in the loop if the discussion moves out of the general board - I'd love to hear your thoughts as well.

My random theory thought is that we theory folk are a more oppressed group than gamers given how few spots are available at unis plus the job market.
