  1. Hi there! Thanks for reaching out, I know it can be nerveracking to be applying for the program and literally just be waiting. My stats were the following: B.A Sociology w/ concentration in culture and communication, Minor in Psychology Overall GPA: 3.2 Last 90 Units/Major GPA: 3.9 ~1000 hours in ABA therapy ~200 hours interning at a charter school for disadvantaged students ~100 hours volunteering at a homeless shelter ~100 hours volunteering at an elementary school And a good amount of experience as a research apprentice, but idt that mattered much Let me know if you have any other questions! I'd be happy to answer :)
  2. Hey! I sympathize because when I was applying it was difficult for me to figure out the desired length for the personal statement. It's supposed to be under 2 pages though -- double-spaced or single-spaced, doesn't matter.
  3. Hey guys, a group cohort page was recently created for the 2-year 2021 cohort in SDSU's MSW program. If you're an incoming student please join! https://www.facebook.com/groups/422839984960117/about/

  5. Answering your first question, they 100% only look at the Writing score for the GRE, and they want to see a 4 or higher. Not sure on the 2nd question, but yes at the very least you won't have to worry about your entire GRE score if you take it again! -- At least for SDSU's program.
  6. Definitely Washington. The deal-breaker here is the paid tuition. That, in a combination of the other factors, make it a no brainer imo!
  7. Hi! I applied for Fall 2019 programs too and had to choose between a 2-year and 3-year program. I'm also 23 so I'm in a similar position as you. I ended up choosing the 2-year program because I'm only working part-time and I know that the school's full-time work will be rigorous. Given your position, I think you made the right choice because if you intend on keeping your full-time work position then it'll be difficult to juggle work and school. The only times I hear people taking the 3-year option over the 2-year are if they are working full-time, and they always say it's a good idea. So I think you're good!
  8. Go with the state school. Local schools are great for networking (and working with local agencies post-grad) and the cheap cost really matters more than the prestige when it comes to MSW's. As long as it's accredited and a decent program, then you're good!
  9. Thanks for making this thread! I would also like to know about this
  10. Thank you!!! Yeah I did on March 6th I believe. I saw it on the portal first and they sent me an email notification the next morning. Good luck! Is CSUSM your first choice? I was excited to go there as well because I like that it's a small and new program but I'm choosing SDSU mainly for the location
  11. Got accepted to SDSU today from the waitlist!
  12. Hey guys, just posting here to update that I got accepted today off the waitlist! The 2-year direct practice route
  13. Hey just posting here as an update. Got waitlisted this afternoon as well, says I should hear back around April 16th. Still hopeful but preparing for the worst!
  14. Wow congrats to the both of you!! And yes, waitlist is definitely not bad. I have yet to hear back at all though, thinking it's a rejection ?
  15. I heard back from CSUSM today! I logged into the portal and saw the admittance there, but haven't received an email or anything like that. So it seems like they change the status on the portal before they send out emails!
