  1. Did they send you the email?
  2. I applied for Carleton mppa as well, but no status change, guess I am not In the first roll
  3. Btw gspia really has lots of opportunities including coop, research, embassy, exchanges overseas, summer field work etc
  4. Thanks for info. But knowing no French to pass the course.... that’s amazing... seriously
  5. Some info from gspia administrators to share, - coop is optional to register, no credits, but if done, must take 2 terms - French Language course will be offered in fall, must attend, the master course taught in French only needs French in listening and presentation, English can be used in all written parts.
  6. OMG, even in the exam part, you have to answer in French? Is google translate allowed? Even English is not my first Language..
  7. Does GSPIA need me to understand French? Does anyone know if it’s true? I have minus knowledge about it.. also this program has specialization on environmental policy, can I take it? I have not specified it in application
  8. Thanks for suggestions! Technically, queens one year MPa also provide optional MRP course but you have to register and get your proposal approved. The administrator says only 1-2 persons do that each year... Besides, they also have coop option but not credited and not guaranteed
  9. It’s not usual for schools like this. An automatic email is peanut. Now I am facing difficulties: queens one year or Ottawa two yrs, I will do PhD afterwards . Any suggestions?
  10. I checked Ottawa mpfa website and found that I was admitted with 6k scholarship per year. Strange that I didn’t get email yet
  11. I checked Ottawa mpfa website and found that I was admitted with 6k scholarship per year. Strange that I didn’t get email yet
  12. Thanks! I did computer science. There are actually two quantitative courses in queens 12 courses. What I am worried about is that doesn’t having no related research experience impact your PhD application?
  13. Got admitted to queens today and they said the grad school may send funding later, so I think the department provides no funding for me. However it’s length is one year and the total fee is around 15k which is ok with me. i am planning to purse PhD after that. Does anybody know if queens mpa will be enough for me to apply PhD in pp? Btw, I have another thesis master from western but on some other science field
  14. Congratulations! Queens mpa is just one year. I am thinking of quickly finishing it and work for govt or apply PhD in the states
  15. Queens mpa is a 10m program, and I think it’s not proper if you want to pursue PhD...
  16. It’s mpa. But I check the website and looks like it’s mostly Social policies related including health, senior etc
  17. Got admission to queens MPA today! But it’s a one year program with focus on health policy etc. Still waiting for other options
  18. Masters and PhD from different schools doesn’t make sense to me. Why?
  19. I think for PhD, research or intern experience is more important. Gpa is also vital. Munk is more of a professional program
  20. Thank you! I didn’t know that I can invite professors unknown out for coffee, but I will definitely try.. fingers crossed now.. I kind of wonder what is the possibility that one wants to change his career, they might have to go back to undergrad again..
  21. Thank you. I have only mentioned it’s where my huge interest lies, and wanted to switch what I am doing to policy analysis. I also mentioned some of my experience made me start to look into policies around us, like why healthcare efficiency is low in Canada etc. Now what makes me worried is that the committee may decide that I don’t have any courses related from school ...
  22. could anyone evaluate my stats please? Getting more and more frustrated... I am 30 yo, originally from Hong Kong and had a master of computer science from McMaster in 2013, during which my thesis was mix of software and laws. Undgrad GPA 85, and grad is 90. Again they are all engineering courses. i then cofounded a startup and then worked for IBM Toronto for 5 yrs. Interested in economics and public policies, so self studied on coursera and gained around ten certificates including micro, macro, policy making, public economics etc. had some voluntary activities and serve as a local executive for a federal political party. love wiring about Canadian public issues such as healthcare, corporate welfare, industrial policies etc now i am very worried about getting nothing in the end as I really had no official experience in this field!! thanks for any opinions!
