Hi I applied to Dalhousie last year. Don't worry, they are super slow with their applications. They send out their responses all at different times. So if you see a bunch of people on this website saying they got in or waitlisted, don't be discouraged. I didn't hear I got waitlisted for about 2 week later. Seems pretty random, but I had a theory it might be alphabetical (my last name starts with N).- 1,373 replies

Hi Everyone?, This is my fourth year applying to SLP, so I am a bit of a pro at this now, haha. Here are my stats if you find that helpful. I'm an open book so let me know if you have questions. 1st Application: Applied to UWO for SLP 3.3sGPA 160 volunteer hours Honours psychology degree Waitlisted 2nd Application: Applied to UWO and McMaster for SLP. 3.4sGPA 266 volunteer hours Waitlisted at UWO, rejected from McMaster without interview. 3rd Application: Applied to UWO, McMaster, McGill, Dalhousie for SLP and UWO, Dalhousie, and Queens for OT. 3.5sGPA 550 volunteer hours Post-graduate certificate in Autism and Behavioural Sciences. Rejected from UWO, McGill, Queens for all programs, and waitlisted at Dalhousie for SLP and OT. 4th Application: Applying to UWO for SLP and Applied Behaviour Analysis. 3.6sGPA 686 volunteer hours Hons. psych degree and post-grad certificate in autism Full-time instructor therapist (someone who does therapy with people who have autism) My tips from experience Apply to as many schools as possible. Don't put all your eggs in one basket like I did originally. The biggest thing I have learned is DO NOT TAKE IT PERSONALLY. I am 110% confident in my ability to succeed as an SLP. I have no doubts. And I am sure many of you would also be fantastic SLPs. But unfortunately, there are hundreds of other applicants that look even more fabulous on paper (Which is all the school sees) and they can only choose a handful of them. The school doesn't get to follow you around and see how amazing you are. I know my sGPA is not as competitive as others, but there are factors that go into that, that I could write a whole book about explaining. But my sGPA does not reflect my work ethic or intelligence. A rejection does not mean that you aren't good enough. Genuinely. It is a problem with the system, not with you. I hope you take that to heart and stay positive??- 1,373 replies

I applied to both SLP and occupational therapy this year. Does anyone know if there is a forum on here or a group somewhere to chat about OT admissions? I haven't been able to find anything.

Does anyone know how many students get accepted into the Dalhousie program? I saw something online from 2018 that said they take 26 people. Is that accurate? Applied to: Western| McMaster| McGill| Dalhousie

Hi! UWO is not specific. When I ask for feedback they are EXTREMELY general, and therefore not very helpful. So no, I wasn't given any specific feedback on my letter of intent, but they said it just needs to grab the reader's attention more.

Hi Everyone! Just thought I would jump in here. I am a Western student and have been applying to SLP grad schools for THREE YEARS. This year I applied to Western, McMaster, McGill, Dalhousie. I have been waitlisted at UWO twice now, and rejected from McMaster twice with no interview. Some Stats: I have a 3.5 sGPA 350+ volunteer hours (children in school, children with disabilities, adults with aphasia, adults with autism) An honors bachelor degree in psychology from UWO A graduate certificate in Autism and Behavioural Sciences from Fanshawe I haven't heard anything from McGill yet, but I know other people have been waitlisted with higher GPAs than me, so I am assuming I have been rejected? I had emailed UWO in 2019 and 2020 to ask why I was waitlisted 2019: Improve your prerequisite course marks (which I did for the next application- took 2.5 more credits) 2020: Told to improve my letter of intent. Was also told I was in the "4th quadrant" of the waitlist, but wasn't told how many people were on the waitlist. However, I have heard rumors the waitlist is generally about 100 people long.

I got waitlisted by Western. This is my second year being waitlisted. I wonder if they take that into account? I really wish they would tell you what spot you are on the waitlist, or at least how big the waitlist is. I've heard of some other schools doing that (mostly in the states).
