  1. I have read on different forums of some of you requesting financial aid reconsideration. I want to know: Who you are reaching out to when requesting a reconsideration? Are you specifically and only asking the financial aid department, or are you also writing or CCing the head of Admissions or the Dept Chair? Or anyone else that you may be in contact with? What are you saying in your email?
  2. Really struggling and hoping to gain some insight. I've been accepted to Washington University in St. Louis MSW program and I have been accepted to Case Western Reserve's MSSA/MNO dual degree program. As it stands both schools will leave me with about the same amount of debt. WashU said that they will be sending me need based scholarship soon but I don't know whether that will be $500 or $15,000. BUT it's one degree vs two degrees. How do I weight that? To make it more difficult, I like Washington University's program better but I like Cleveland more than St Louis and I like Case Western's campus more than WashU's. With WashU giving me more money do I just accept it or do I see if Case can match it?
  3. I have heard back. Also disappointed with my scholarship from Case. It would leave me about $70k in loans, not covering any expenses outside tuition. Any luck with arguing the aid @Mrobocop? I spoke with Matt and have not had success increasing my scholarship.
  4. I would say that it is a good sign. I doubt they pay for all out of state applicants to come visit.

  6. Let us know when you hear! I hear it can take some people a few hours to a few days for a response.
  7. I never thought that I would be able to ask for a reconsideration more than once. This is very hopeful!! I was waiting to ask for reconsideration until I had more offers. Now I don't think I will do that.
  8. I'm glad to hear the UPenn interviews are laid back. Mine is in about 2.5 weeks. I'm not too stressed as it is though as I got into my top two schools already.
  9. Curious, what are they offering you and where are you attending now?
  10. sounds like money is the big concern for you so go where it's cheapest.
  11. Go where the school has money or go to the school that is giving you the most money? Trying to decide between Case Western and WashU since I haven't heard from the other schools yet.
  12. I got a merit based scholarship. About $30k. It wasn't a video interview though, it was responding to questions in a recorded video....maybe similar? No idea how generous they are with need based scholarships. Hopefully very generous!
  13. I'm sorry, I thought I made clear that I haven't heard back from them either. You are not alone.
  14. Truth. Feelings are feelings. It's normal to feel them. How you act on them can be a different story.
  15. wow, 60k! That's money in the bank right there!
  16. April 6th!? But my other schools want to know by April 15th!!
  17. About $30k. I got about $40k for Case Western. You?
  18. Great stats! No wonder you were accepted. When did you apply? Did they provide a scholarship? I'm still waiting to hear back from them.
  19. Be the best you but never be someone else for the sake of others.
  20. Congrats! Remind me if this is Chapel Hill or Charlotte?
  21. Yes, I have the merit scholarship. As you said, that was included in my acceptance letter. Waiting on any need based awards and scholarships that may come my way. Weird, I was told that I would hear no later than March 1st. When did you apply or get accepted? Maybe it's dependent on that date or the time frame has shifted further back.
  22. My rule of thumb when sending professional emails is typically wait five to seven days, unless we are talking interoffice emails or emails where a deadline is given. Less than that time is understandable that they have not responded yet as people are busy. More than seven days going by means they might have forgotten about or put it too far down the list. I think it is important to be assertive and show your needs are important too, but as you say, without pestering them.
  23. Depends on the school you might want to get your second bachelors and the school you want to go to later for your masters. If you want to get your masters at an expensive school, paying for one year is cheaper than two. Especially if you transfer from a state school with cheap tuition.
  24. I think it really depends on what else you can bring to the table. GPA is one aspect. Work experience is another. Things you do in your free time is another. Your goals and your dreams for yourself and society can all be things that may stand out. Plus if there is a reason that is school specific to why you want to go there, that is usually huge. I didn't think I would get in to the schools I applied to because of my 3.1 GPA and I have zero social work experience. But I have a lot of community engagement both in my free time and in employment. Combine that with my passions and I look like a much better candidate.
  25. Congrats!! When did you apply? And? Did you get in? Still waiting to hear back from Chapel Hill.
