I don't believe that Indiana interviews. Did you get a request?
-
I wonder if they're being released in batches, given that CP interview requests were also sent out last week.
-
Congrats! When did you receive the email, and was it from a POI?
-
And now there's a Yale acceptance.
-
There's also a Columbia posting.
-
To the person who posted the CP interview request from UW-Madison, did you receive an email from a POI?
-
I applied to 14 programs (15, actually, but Duke has opted to not admit students this cycle), all in the US. I'm currently working on my MA in Russian Studies. My thesis examines the consequences of land reform for regime stability in post-Soviet Central Asia.

Do you know which which subfields announcements have gone out for thus far?
-
Have they sent them out already?
-
If the results are to be believed, then both AP and CP have been announced.
-
I still think we should err on the side of caution, though. Berkeley has never released decisions this early (at least as far back as the results page here goes).
-
It seems a little odd, but then again, who knows.

Given your interests, which US institutions are you interested in attending?
-
Not sure about whether they're funded. Some programs (e.g., those at the LSE) may carry weight. What're you interested in studying?

Since when have GRE scores been optional in the Political Science Department at Ohio State? This is the first top-ranked program, to the best of my knowledge, that no longer requires the GRE.
-
In recent years, Wisconsin has sent out interview requests anywhere between December 31 and mid-January. I think Ohio State and Emory conduct interviews, too, but I could be wrong.
-
Have interview requests been sent out?
-
Although this information is often not available on departments' websites, you can sometimes find it in databases published on the website of the university graduate school. I would say anywhere between 300-500 applications for the places you've mentioned. Perhaps even up to 600-650 at some.

Grad schools that look at last 60 hours for GPA calc?
uchenyy replied to willyc277's topic in Political Science Forum
I think that the University of Washington might, too. All schools that you apply to will see your full transcript, so even if the applications do not require you to note the GPA for your last 60 hours, you might be fine. Or you could address this in your statement (there is disagreement as to whether that's an appropriate strategy, though). -
Grad schools that look at last 60 hours for GPA calc?

Berkeley, UCLA (I think, but I'm not sure), and Northwestern (I think, but I'm also not sure) specifically ask for the GPA of your last sixty hours. -
I am currently applying to PhD programs, and my statement is approximately 750 words. My professors have commented on it, and I have revised it based on those comments. I'm very happy with it, and I've been told it's a very good statement. Some programs note that the statement should be approximately 1,000 words. Should I submit my 750-word statement to these programs, or should I add more words? I am hesitant to do so, as I'm very pleased with what I have. I also don't know what else there is to add at this point without talking about things that appear elsewhere in my application (e.g., coursework). Thanks!

What does matter, then? Only GRE scores and fit with the program? It seems like you're suggesting that conference attendance, grades, and quant experience aren't significant at all. If the GRE score is a good indicator of performance in graduate school (e.g., in a quant methods course) and one has proven that she can succeed in a graduate program, then why does it still matter? I'm not arguing with you; I'm just trying to understand the logic.
