  1. I got VERY cold called. The POI said decisions would be made in the next 10 days via email but I received a call the day after my interview!
  2. Jose Soto- Penn State! https://psych.la.psu.edu/directory/jas95 I would also add that you should look into counseling psychology as well as that field has somewhat more of a focus on multicultural issues and social justice (typically, not always) than clinical psychology. When looking at cultural adjustment, you may find more potential advisers in counseling psych where you can still get that clinical focus. I'm similar in that I want to be a community psychologist with a clinical focus, and I was able to find that especially in clinical-community psychology and counseling psych programs! There are clinical psychologists who focus on these issues for sure, you'll just have to look a little harder LOL edit #2, just realized this was posted in 2016 and this person is most likely already in a program ?
  3. School: University of Houston Type: PhD Clinical Psychology Date of invite: 2/5 Type of invite: Phone Call from POI Interview date(s): 2/24 Stranger things have happened...don’t give up hope!
  4. Absolutely LOVING the positivity ?. I'm completing my second interview right now and I just want to say I am SOOOO impressed and happy with the types of people pursuing this degree. On my 2 interviews I've met people I feel like I could become lifetime friends with. I often suffer from imposter syndrome (lol who doesn't) and was super nervous about meeting my "competition" in person. However, I've been pleasantly surprised with the sincere and genuine people I've had the pleasure of meeting. I'm feeling really confident in the trajectory of clinical/counseling psychology and I can't wait to see what you all accomplish!
  5. School: Columbia University Teachers College Type: Counseling PhD Date of invite: 1/29 Type of invite: Email from DCT Interview date(s): February 13th I CANT BELIEVE THIS AHHHH!
  6. School: St John's University Type: Clinical Psychology PhD Method: Email from DCT Date of invite: 29 January 2020 Date of interview: Feb 10, I am requesting an alternate date.
  7. My situation may be slightly different but I went from 0 interviews Fall 2018 to 6 interviews Fall 2019 because of how I spent the 10 months in between. It's definitely possible!
  8. My POI whom I've already completed an interview with this past weekend just asked me for an updated CV....hope that's a good sign!
  9. I overthought as well haha but ended up hitting reply all.
  10. School: East Carolina University Type: Clinical Health Psychology PhD Interview invite for 2/14 Date: 01/21/2020 Source: Mass Email
  11. Has anyone heard anything from East Carolina's Clinical Health Psych PhD? Trying to make valentine's day plans but their interview day is that weekend ?. Would really like to know!
  12. I haven't really felt "fucked over" by the process as you stated because I understand how competitive it is. I worked extremely hard and like you, I have received some interview invites and some rejections as well. I just remember that there is so much we don't know going on behind the scenes and that God (or the universe or whoever) will make sure you're on the right path. After not receiving acceptance last year, I felt similar to you but I had to really take a step back and appreciate the process for what it is. There are do many factors like departmental politics, networks and nepotism, funding, etc. that play into this, it's really pointless to gripe over not being accepted or offered an interview. You never know what you're up against. No matter how hard I worked, I know I cannot adequately explain this in the confines of my application so I have to trust that those who did believe in me enough to offer an interview are the types of places I will flourish at. I will say- I am extremely annoyed at the unofficial rejection thing. I think it's incredibly negligent to not offer official rejections or application updates after completing this rigorous app process.
  13. lol the amount of university t shirts and "future clinical psychologist" mugs in my amazon shopping cart is ridiculous.
  14. Yay! Congrats on the interview. I'll be attending the alternate interview date for this program which is February 21st.
  15. So glad there's all these aspiring community psychologists out there. Much needed!
  16. Sorry I meant for clinical!
  17. I received mine last Wednesday so maybe they are sending them in waves!
  18. I think DePaul Clinical has sent out all their invitations but that could just be for the clinical-child concentration. I received an email from the DCT that looked like a mass email.
  19. Congrats on all those interviews! I don't even know what kind of support I'm expecting programs to tell me they have. Every program has some sort of diversity statement/initiative yet it's not always upheld unfortunately. I'd love to hear more about your experience directly asking about support for students of your background/identity! As minorities, I guess we're all pretty good at discerning between bullsh*t and genuineness. I hope we all find programs that adequately support us!
  20. Ah yes, sorry don't know anything about the social program! I was applying clinical. Best of luck, I hope you get it!!
  21. It's a sad situation lol. My best friend is actually in the lab I applied to so I found out via her. The committee met Wednesday and I believe invites have all been sent but I'll double check.
  22. Just received a rejection from University of Houston ?. I had already begun bookmarking apartments there ?. In the words of Jay Z: on to the next one.
  23. I'm from NC and well connected in the area
