  1. Uh, hey everybody. I'm going to be applying again this year. I know I'm attending a program now, but UNH Poetry doesn't feel right for me at the moment. I didn't want to think about my reservations back in March after I heard the thesis reading zoom, but my worries about not getting what I need from the program are worse. So yeah, I'll be stressed about this year's applications with the rest of you guys. Good luck to all of us.
  2. After being rejected on the first round, I didn't think about my next round of MFA applications until mid July. The urge to apply came, went, then came back again. It's one of the things that stuck in my mind, much like writing, and there wasn't a way to get rid of it completely.
  3. Hey, I wanted to mention something about U New Hampshire funding. According to a student graduating in the spring, my full tuition remission is a rare event and they typically give out two thirds or half. I didn't realize that when researching so it's not on my spreadsheet. Thought I'd inform you in advance.
  4. YAAAAAAAASSSSSS! Have an awesome time for both of us!!!
  5. This is on Wisconsin's webiste: "We at Wisconsin advise any applicant who is feeling pressured to accept another MFA program's offer before the April 15th deadline to simply send the program a friendly email that states, "I see that your institution is a member of the Council of Graduate Schools. As such, I believe that I have the right to consider your offer up until the April 15th deadline as established by the council. Thanks so much!" Most universities are big places where one hand doesn’t know what the other hand is doing. " Some schools don't accept anyone after the April 15th deadline, even if someone declines their offer at the last minute. It would be cruel to put someone in the position of having accepted an offer, only to get another offer form a waitlisted college that's better. Some of the bigger schools in New York tend to do stuff like that though. One time in the results page on GradCafe, I saw someone get rejected from NYU in July. I'm not sure what school you're waiting for, but if it's a big New York school, I honestly wouldn't wait. If you have an offer that you aren't sure you want to take, I would try again next year. These are just my thoughts though.
  6. Yes, I was rejected off the waitlist the day before I committed to New Hampshire
  7. Gotcha. It's a shame that everyone here has to worry about shit like this. I might pop in on next year's thread, but if I don't happen to see your posts in a sea of thousands of posts, I hope next year is easier for you. You've helped us out a lot, thank you.
  8. Thread for 2022 is up very very early: https://forum.thegradcafe.com/topic/129081-2022-applicants-forum/
  9. I'm gonna say it on this thread and the 2022 thread, but anyone who wants my MFA school spreadsheet link (for next application season) can message me. It has virtually anything you can think of about a school that I could find. I encourage you to copy and update your spreadsheet to your needs as the virus has changed things drastically. It has stipends, average-low apartment prices, program duration, town, teaching, stuff like that. Hope your next application season goes better!
  10. I withdrew my application a week ago and the portal still says no decision. Nobody got back to me on all three of my emails so I decided against keeping my app in the ring...
  11. Easter isn't my holiday but it might be yours. Have a good day regardless.
  12. ...
  13. Somehow you got there when all I could think of was purgatory. Yeah, there's a reason I don't have a knack for telling stories.
  14. This isn't good news for anyone, but it's comforting to know the troll is going to be stuck on Gradcafe forever, like purgatory. They will never leave because the forum seems to be their main writing outlet instead of, y'know, writing stories.
  15. Oh we can't always, but I've been here with this asshole so long that the speech patterns, general content, and stupid arguments kind of give it away...
  16. Every time someone argues with the troll, the more I don't want to be on this website.
  17. I second this. It was my second season too, and things worked out way better this round then I could have imagined last year.
  18. My season is over, but I'm bored waiting to see if there's any TA-ships, Writing assistantships, or housing on campus. I realized I'm going to be waiting for something for the rest of my life and I'm horrible at waiting.
  19. Update, it WAS a rejection letter and the graduate school wanted to rub it in haha.
  20. Uhhhhhhh, guys, I just got an email from VTech saying my application decision is ready to be viewed. I thought I was rejected based on the last status update. I re-read it and I think I might have been waitlisted at the time. But the new status update won't load, so I'm just here waiting on an email back wondering if I've made a horrible mistake.
  21. To the troll, Suck my non-existent nuts, you slimy hagfish. -L. H. S
  22. Did you get the email for the accepted students day zoom meeting? It's on the 31st I think. You might some good answers there. And the people there seem quite nice, but so does new hampshire and I can't afford SJCNY.
  23. Committed to New Hampshire.
  24. Turned down my offer at St. Joseph's. Hopefully someone on the waitlist can get in.
  25. Rejected off the waitlist for Maryland. I have yet to hear UNO's FinAid offer, but I'm most likely going to be committing to New Hampshire.
