  1. How much time are you dedicating to writing a research proposal for CGS-M? And does anyone know where I could find an example?
  2. I believe the tri-council agency fully decides. That being said I do think universities choose students based on their likelihood of getting a CGS-M award and If they have applied for that award. Someone correct me if I'm wrong!
  3. How many words it it okay to exceed the word limit on your SOP? The website says approximately 500 words and I am about 200 words over the limit.
  4. I did send follow-up emails and thanked them for meeting with me. I'm not a current student but I am currently applying. Personally, I think it shows your enthusiastic and displays diligence. Im curious to know anyone else thoughts on this?
  5. If you are a current grad student at UBC-O can you please shoot me a PM. I have a few specific questions I'm looking to ask! Thank you in advance
  6. Hmm are you seen as less competitive to Ontario Schools then because you didn't apply to tri-council funding
  7. Im wondering if anyone has any advice on if I should redo the GRE. My scores were 70th percentile Verbal 56th percentile Quant and 92nd percentile for Analytical. Only one of the schools I am applying to is requiring the GRE (it is my top choice) and I have a good relationship with my POI. All the other schools I am interested in applying to have waived the GRE. I have also had preliminary meetings with a few POIs. Im starting to think that focusing on the GRE instead of my research and application may hinder me instead of helping me. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
  8. Does any one have any templates for SOP that they followed? Or any tips on what to and not to do? Much appreciated!
  9. My scores arent the greatest so I really don't want to submit. But i am worried that I may be penalized for not submitting. Thoughts?
  10. Is anyone still submitting scores to universities that waived the GRE and kept it optional?
  11. This guide has some good questions to ask on Page 30 http://mitch.web.unc.edu/files/2017/02/MitchGradSchoolAdvice.pdf
  12. Do you think its a good idea to add POI's that you have had meetings with or are interested in on LinkedIn?
  13. have you completed the LSAT? how did it compare to the GRE. I am also applying to Canadian programs and thinking of school Psych as a backup. I did consider Law but am afraid of my letter of recommendation writers thinking I am not passionate about clinical psych.
  14. How long should I wait before sending a follow up email after not receiving a response from a POI? Have you guys started emailing professors? How has your response rate been? Mine has been pretty low, so I am wondering if I should hold off until lat aug/sept
  15. So I just completed the GRE again today (155 Verbal and 154 Quant). My scores went up by 20 points. However, I got anxious during the verbal section and feel as if I can probably do better. I am wondering if it would be worthwhile to do the GRE again to be competitive for clinical psychology programs in Canada. My psychology GRE scores were within the 90th percentile. In addition, I have 5 posters presentations, no pubs, a directed studies and have volunteered at various labs throughout my undergrad. I am most interested in York, Western, UBC-O, SFU, and UVIC. Do you think I should re-take the exam to be competitive for these schools?
  16. GRE has a score select option, so you are able to send your best scores. I think that's how it works - someone correct me if I'm wrong.
  17. Hi!! I took the GRE at home a few days ago, and found it much easier completing it at home compared to when I completed it in the test centre. I think its especially beneficial for individuals who experience crippling text anxiety like me! I would recommend taking practice tests in the same space you will take your actual test. Best of luck this cycle!

  19. Thanks! Unfortunately, I do not live in Alberta so it may not be possible for me to RA for my POI. I'm having a difficult time accessing their admissions data for information regarding how many students are accepted per year, GPAs etc. I do have a good research match at UofC, so I will definitely reach out to my POI soon.
  20. Hi! Im looking to apply to some child psychology programs this year, specifically UBC and UofC. I am wondering if anyone has any experience applying or currently attend these programs. Are they extremely competitive like clinical psychology programs? What are typically GPA's and GRE's of those admitted? How essential is having an exact research match to gain acceptance? Or any other advice you may have! Thanks
  21. Can the person who received an interview invite at UBC-O please PM me
