  1. I think mentioning 7 profs might be too much. You do not have to write that you want to work with these 3-4 people and only with them. You can put it this way: "In the program there are several faculty members I will be excited to work with, among them Professor X, Professor Y and Professor Z". Thus you will show that you are open to other opportunities. I would mention only professors I am particularly interested in working with.
  2. Good luck with finals! Cattle butts in the morning sounds like an exciting experience
  3. Amen.
  4. I guess we all look this way in GRE/TOEFL photos Don't worry! Happy New Year to you too!!!
  5. This! How could I forget about this! It is very important!!! Shame on me
  6. I think that the explanation might be that your school has put in an envelope an incomplete transcript by mistake. If I were you I would not wait for an answer. I would call them immediately. I think this thing can be settled much faster on the phone. Good luck!
  7. I do not think that it will weaken your chances. It was the prof's sloppiness, not your fault. For the schools it will look as if the prof has written this intro sentence in a draft and then forgot to change it for different programs. I would not worry about that. Good luck!
  8. I would send the follow-up letters at once. Those letters that you have already sent could have indeed been lost. Do not wait till the deadlines. Contacting profs after deadlines is considered a bad idea. Sending follow-up emails isn't. And I am not sure that you can write that you have been in contact with a professor if he/she has not answered you yet. Good luck!
  9. The obvious solution would be to try spending more time on each question. Identify sections that you have most troubles with (reading comprehension? analogies?) and use slower pace while moving through them. Good luck!
  10. I would suggest contacting the school and asking how you can resubmit information about your recommenders. Perhaps that is possible. I do not think that using different accounts is a good idea. It can indeed be very confusing.
  11. The same with me.
  12. Very interesting thread! And what if a person who studied at a US grad school wants to teach in Europe, - what will happen then? Do European universities prefer to hire professors with European degrees? Or they do not care?

  16. I am sure they will convert them to American grading. That's what they do with transcripts from international students. Will these grades matter? If the subjects you studied there were not related to the field you want to work in they might not be of any importance. Espesially if your GPA is high.
  17. Well, I am just guessing here, but it might be impossible now to retrieve the letters your professors have submitted. May be I am wrong. It depends on what online app system the school is using. Perhaps the fact that it is expired means that everything you had uploaded was deleted from their system. The truth is - only this school can tell you what has happened with your recommendations. If I were in the same situation, I would perhaps ask my professors to resubmit letters and not tell the school about the situation. But since you have already written an email to the program all you can do is wait for a reply. Or perhaps you can also call them to expedite the process. Good luck!
