  1. Hi, Wondering if anyone has interviewed for the clinical psych PhD program at LIU Brooklyn and has some insight into the interview? Any questions that stood out? Thanks so much!
  2. My very first invite, freaking out School: LIU Brooklyn Type: Clinical Psychology PhD Date of invite: Jan 13th Type of invite: Call from admissions Interview date(s): Feb 13th virtual DM for POI: They mentioned to not apply to a specific POI
  3. I would love to see who got in at Yale etc. this cycle! Like show yourself extraterrestrial creature haha
  4. I wonder the same. It's frustrating to not know where to improve.. I have a master's, 3 years of clinical and research experience, publications etc. and I know of people who have gotten into programs right out of undergrad, with no pubs. I know a lot of it is about fit, as well as luck, but it's defeating to not know what areas of my application to improve on when it seems like it is a crapshoot either way.
  5. on the results page of this forum and I also DM'd this person. POI CH. This is for counseling PhD, not clinical.

  7. I feel ya, which makes it even scarier to think it's almost Friday. I will genuinely be a hot mess by next Friday if it's still radio salience by then anyone think about emailing programs? that's probs a big no no?
  8. Is it normal to not have heard anything at all yet? Is no news good news? Freaking out that I still haven't heard ANYTHING.
  9. Oh wow I did not see that on the website. I assumed rejected because someone got an interview last week with the POI I applied to. You too!!
  10. Is it a big no go to reach out to programs to get a better idea of timeline if we haven't heard back yet by next week?
  11. I hear you. I also have 3 years of clinical and research experience, pubs and good LOR's and have also not heard back from any school. I applied to the counseling program at Fordham though. I heard clinical is very very hard to get into at Fordham so don't take it personally. I feel your frustration though, I am also not quite sure in what areas to improve... feeling discouraged since I also haven't heard back from any of the schools I applied to and one I am assuming is a a rejection (Columbia). Just wanted to let you know that I get it... this is hard for sure and it seems this year is even more competitive than usual.
  12. Hahaha, sounds like we do have a bit more time to obsessively check emails.
  13. Ahhh are you sure? I thought that was for clinical? Freaking out now lol
  14. Omg what? I think that's for clinical not counseling at least that's what the poster said... Pretty sure counseling's deadline is not today for invites. My friends who applied last year said they got invites in February.
  15. For anyone applying to NYU Counseling PhD - they have not finished reviewing applications yet. I did not apply there but work there so thought you might appreciate this info.
  16. I consider myself a competitive applicant, and while I feel confident in that I also know how competitive some of these programs are, Rutgers being one of them. Especially this year with all schools getting record numbers of applicants. Like I said, one can dream, and while I know that I am a competitive applicant I also know that it would take a lot of luck to even get an interview at Rutgers. I am not saying it's impossible, but it's def a reach, so I am being realistic. Doesn't mean it can't happen but not very likely.
  17. I graduated from my masters in 2018 and I ended up staying involved in the lab that I worked in during my masters. I have built a strong relationship with the PI (I would apply to that institutions PhD program if it wasn’t one of the most competitive I know and basically almost impossible to get in, not being self deprecating just realistic lol, plus my PI isn’t taking on any grad students this year..) anyways, it’s an unpaid position which is ok for me atm, since I am like you working towards my liscence. I’m currently working on 2 publications and doing an independent project so it’s been amazing to still be able to be involved in research this way. I would absolutely reach out to previous professors since it might be helpful that you already have that connection. Perhaps even labs you previously worked in. You could technically apply to other labs but I’m sure that’s a bit more difficult. It will of course be even more difficult if you are looking for paid research positions.
  18. I also applied to Rutgers PsyD clinical and haven’t heard but given their deadline was January 9th I am guessing it’ll be next week or the week after. Super nervous since this is my first choice but it seems this year is even more competitive so I’m not counting on getting an interview. I’m quite frankly hoping I’ll even get into one of my safety schools at this point since I’ve heard nothing at all from all the 7 schools I applied to.
  19. Thank you so much! Is this for clinical or counseling?
  20. Anyone else apply to New York/NJ programs and knows more about timeline? (specifically Pace, Fordham, Rutgers, LIU and Yeshiva)?
  21. I have no idea... I guess try again perhaps. I see you have kids too I have 3 kids as well so it’s not like im starting this right out of undergrad... at this point I already have a masters and I am working as a mental health counselor. I also work in a research lab (unpaid). I want to say I will keep trying until I get it, this is my first year applying, but I’m really worried with the GRE being back next year my chances will be even lower
  22. Makes sense. Is that for clinical or counseling at Fordham? Assume we can almost double that this year then lol...
  23. Thanks for your reply. I agree, I spoke to many PhD students at Ivy League schools who said they didn’t get into any program until they applied second and third time, so I know it’s common and no reflection necessarily but I’m honestly super worried to apply with the GRE, I do extremely bad at it and it’s very hard for me to prep too (3 kids and 2 full time jobs lol) but alas I’ll have to bite that bullet like everyone else. I didn’t apply to crazy competitive programs either and I am fortunate enough to have some savings that I can use so I also decided to apply to PsyD programs. Not sure you are familiar with the schools but I am applying to Pace, Fordham, Columbia, Long Island University, Widener, Rutgers (my top choice) and Yeshiva. I honestly felt like a lot of them were doable and not an unattainable goal (except for Columbia) but at this point I’m not even sure I’ll get an interview at any of those. Can I ask which program that you applied to said they had 150 applicants? Good luck to you!
  24. Thank you, so sweet of you! Yes, same, I haven't seen much of the schools I have applied to on the results page either so I am still somewhat hopeful but I know I will be most certainly losing it if I don't hear back end of next week either lol. Trying to remind myself that it's totally out of my hands now and I did the best I could but oh man...
