Does anyone have information on Dal’s admission stats? Like what’s the acceptance rate and how many reference letters people usually submit?

The best place to start answering your questions is directly from the ORPAS site: https://www.ouac.on.ca/orpas/ They have a guide and overview of the application and submission deadlines for the previous year. Usually deadlines are the same year to year.

Thanks so much for your response. This kinda what I was expecting. At this point of my life I don’t know if it’s worth it for me to complete another degree and still not be guaranteed admission. I might be time to put this behind me and find a new dream ??♀️

I need some advice from you lovely people! My sGPA for this admission cycle was 3.45 and I made the 4th quadrant of Western’s waitlist. For few reasons the most I may be able to bump it would be to 3.56. Is it worth it for me to try to get that or is it still too low?

Sorry, I should clarify: what I meant by feedback is like what I should work on in my application for next admission cycle.

Hello everyone, Soon some of us on waitlists may start to see some movement in those lists. Please remember to be kind to yourselves, regardless of the outcome! -
Has anybody whose planning on Western looked into accommodations yet? Any advice? I’ve over-ambitiously planning ahead ?

Interesting! I was also under the impression that there were 100 people but I’d much prefer if it were 52 haha! If anybody asks Janet please PM me with the info if you’re comfortable. I have a bit of a suspicion that the waitlist this year may be longer than average due to the unpredictability of the pandemic. Trying to cover all their bases ?

I heard that in some of the Ontario schools that you’re not even “allowed” to have a job. Does anyone know if there’s any truth to this?

How’s your French? Mcgill’s program is in English but placements may be in French!

According to former students UofT is very academic and the profs are often opaque about what they expect from students.

If campus ~feel~ is something that is very important to you, keep in mind that all of the Ontario schools are very different! UofT is more sprawled within the city and not as close knit as an entire university community, at least physically. Western is a lot more of a traditional campus feel with Elborn College itself looking sort of like a high school.

According to some Mac students I have spoken to sometimes placements are a little difficult to find because their catchment area overlaps with UofT and they usually take priority. But that being said their coordinator Is supposed to be really helpful at finding placements. What’s your learning style like? UofT is supposed to be a lot more traditional lecture style and Mac is problem-based learning. I don’t have and info in this regard for Mac but according to former students UofT’s program has a variety of supports to help job seekers in 2nd year. Of course though please take everything I’ve written with a grain of salt as I am a stranger on the internet You should watch the video from the Ontario Slp students that was posted earlier in this forum. I found it really helpful!

This is also what I’ve heard from speaking to former/current students. It appears that usually if someone applied and got into UofT they often also applied and got into Western and then choose UofT. Apparently if you want to work in the GTA or bigger research hospitals UofT is the way to go but I’m very unsure about how true that is.

Do you have any sort of preferences about where you’d want to work in the future or with what population? Are any of these schools closer to where you live currently? If I had a choice about what school to go to I personally would go to whatever ends up costing the least.

This was first time applying and I’ve been rejected at Mac and UofT but waitlisted at Western. Honestly I’m thrilled to be waitlisted! Especially considering that my sGPA is not that impressive. I realize how difficult it is to get into these programs so I’m happy to be even that much closer. Hopefully I’m in an earlier quadrant and still have a chance! I believe that Western usually sees a substantial amount of movement in the waitlist.
