  1. Hello! In the Western email they said that they’ll not release waitlist positions, so does that mean they won’t even tell you which quadrant like in previous years? Has anyone tried this yet?
  2. Has anybody asked how many applications Western or UofT have received this year? I’m super curious about my chances but am too nervous to ask!
  3. Hello! I can’t speak to UBC, but according to Western’s program day, anywhere between 3.3-3.5 is supposedly good enough to get noticed at least!
  4. As I understand, this just refers to the Volunteer Experience section that's already in the ORPAS application. I think in that case the Statement of Intent of UofT's=Personal Submissions section of the ORPAS application. If you go to the UofT link within ORPAS it might be a bit more clear: https://www.ouac.on.ca/guide/orpas-toronto/#slp
  5. Hello all! For the personal statement section of the application, are we not able to indent paragraphs? Do they want just a block of text then?
  6. Hello I asked over SAM in the ORPAS application and they said to have it sent to this email: professional@ouac.on.ca You can ask them yourself though if you're not sure. They're really good about replying within 24 hours.
  7. Hello! For 1), I asked Adriana at UofT about it in December and she said to just follow whatever order ORPAS automatically orders them
  8. So I found a solution, albeit not a very good one. I had to input additional spaces in between words to kinda 'hop' over the empty space. It fixed the problem but it also counts as a character decreasing what's actually available to use in the description.
  9. Is anybody having trouble with formatting on the ORPAS application in the prerequisite section? There are random spaces in the course description section that I did not put there! I tried retyping it out and re-inputting each course but neither of those are working.
  10. My sincerely apologies for all the confusion I’ve caused! It’s entirely possible that I misunderstood something from my conversation with her. Please do not take me at my word and I recommend contacting the schools/ORPAS directly if you want an answer.
  11. It’s interesting, as an undergrad at UofT it was definitely uncommon and even frowned up to have any sort of job during school. I think also that a decent proportion of UofT’s SLP students are directly from undergrad so they would mostly have good grades and volunteer experience to back up their application. But when I spoke to former students in the program they said that there were many students years postgrad/ or with extensive work experience so I assume they just highlighted that in their statement. I guess maybe what they’re saying is that you can’t work in SLP without a degree in SLP so therefore you wouldn’t be able to have any work experience in that field?? It hard to judge about what they want. I do know from talking to Adriana the coordinator at UofT that they want you to talk about paid work experience only in the statement.
  12. Some info that might be helpful for others: I spoke to the admissions coordinators at both UofT and Western about the volunteer experience section of the OPRAS application. Western says it’s ok to include paid experience but you cannot do it for UofT!
  13. Hello, Disclaimer: I don’t have any direct experience with U of A but I know for other schools outside of Ontario you just have to have the school either mail or electronically distribute the transcript to ORPAS. Usually you can make that request through your registrar.
  14. Just over a month until applications are due! How's everyone's coming along? I'm still struggling with the statement of intent.
  15. Hello everybody, What are you all talking about for accomplishments in the UofT and Western statements of intent if you have no specific academic accomplishments? I've having trouble thinking of what non-academic things apply here.
  16. Hi gradschoolpls, I just copied the description from my school's course calendar and then shortened that until it fit the 150 characters. Unfortunately you will have to take out some info but I would at least make sure that you keep the gist of the course details. P.S. great screen name
  17. Hi Anna What I would do is list them as in progress, especially if you're retaking them because you need a higher grade to reach the admission threshold. I believe if the first time you took the courses was not within your last 20 half courses/10 FCEs they don't even consider it because it won't be included in your subGPA.
  18. For the volunteer experience sections of UofT and Western’s applications, how did you fill out the description of activities? Bullet points or full sentences? Does anybody have a resource they can share that explains what to include on an academic CV?
  19. Is any one open to potentially exchanging Statements of Intent for mutual editing? I want someone familiar with the field and programs to look at my statement before I submit. I would certainly return the favour if anyone is willing
  20. Hi! I was emailing with Adriana at UofT and she nothing clinical is required so a reference letter is not needed.
  21. Hey everybody, Has anybody taken any courses at Athabasca? How did you end up sending your transcript to ORPAS and how long did it take?
