  1. I was accepted outright into one program (Tulane! - they are revising their program), wait listed at two (BU and Hopkins... Was ultimately rejected from both, but encouraged to reapply to Hopkins - although they probably say that to everyone), and outright rejected from GW and Rutgers. I don't have much research experience, but I do have a significant work history (10 years) with varied roles (grant writing, coalition coordination, teen sex ed, grant writing, Veterans Health, local health department); and I wrote very clearly about why I want the DrPH and what my goals are from the program. I made sure to reach out to faculty members from each school to learn more about the program and explain my interests (intersection of faith and how it could reduce adverse maternal health outcomes and my desire to create programs that meet Black women where they are AKA in church lol). I think having some experience with qualitative research was helpful, but I don't have any publications. I did however have SOLID recommendation letters. I think that might have made the difference considering how competitive this admissions cycle was. PLUS my grades weren't stellar when you look across undergrad and grad. I graduated from undergrad (10 years ago) with a 2.7... I finished my MPH + certificate with a 3.7ish... So yeah, it's safe to say they look holistically.
  2. Yeah I'm excited about Tulane (and glad to finally know where I'm going!). I had been waitlisted at Hopkins and Boston. I didn't realize Boston's DrPH cohort was so small. I knew someone said 6 in here, but just reading it in the final decision letter was like, wow! Glad to know that even if I wasn't accepted, they still thought I was a great candidate!
  3. Alright! Got my final rejections from Boston and Hopkins (although both of their rejection letters were quite kind!). So Tulane it is! Let me get this ball rolling and start prepping for this move!
  4. Right now I am in the wait and see category, but I'll have more time to think about it next week (my job is supporting a COVID vaccination clinic and I literally have not had time to think about anything but that - outside of checking my email today and seeing a rejection from Rutgers lol)
  5. Rejected from Rutgers. So most likely my decision will be Tulane SPHTM. Im just holding out to see it I can get off of Boston's waitlist
  6. DrPH. I only applied to DrPH programs so I couldn't tell you when admissions decisions for the PhD programs will be coming out.
  7. Got wait listed for BU! So for those who are still waiting, I assume you'll hear shortly. I interviewed and I think the interview went well, there were just a lot of awesome folks applying this year. So I still feel happy about being on the wait list. Accepted: Tulane Waitlisted: Hopkins & BU Rejected: GW Still waiting: Rutgers Hoping to get a decision from Rutgers by the end of the week (HOPEFULLY lol)
  8. Got wait listed for BU! So for those who are still waiting, I assume you'll hear shortly. I interviewed and I think the interview went well, there were just a lot of awesome folks applying this year. So I still feel happy about being on the wait list. Accepted: Tulane Waitlisted: Hopkins & BU Rejected: GW Still waiting: Rutgers Hoping to have that last school decision this week (that's just an estimate).
  9. Just heard back from GW. Got rejected... But I'm alright with it! Still waiting for Rutgers and BU. Glad to be one step closer to finalizing where I'll be in the fall!
  10. I emailed GW today and received my rejection a few hours later lol. BUT! That's okay... 2 more schools to hear from - Rutgers and BU. Accepted: Tulane Waitlisted: JHU Rejected: GWU Glad to be closer to figuring out my final decision!

Just got into Tulane SPHTM (downtown) and am wondering where to live. I'd love to know if anyone has any tips (since this thread is fairly old).
  12. I applied to GW, but did not select a concentration I just applied for the general Public Health DrPH, as they are updating the curriculum for Fa21. Also, I haven't heard anything from them, but I didn't think I would until this month based on the email I got when they received my application. Hopefully we receive decisions within the next 2 weeks though!
  13. Congratulations on getting into Hopkins @EnviroDrPH-PhD, @Challenge2025 @HopeFaithandDrPH and @DrPH or Bust !!! I posted it in the other thread that I'm on the wait list for Hopkins, but I'm overjoyed by that! My stats - 2.6 undergrad GPA, 3.6 MPH (7 years to finish) No publications 26th percentile Quant scores on the GRE... I am NOT the typical candidate on this forum. But I do know that ALL things are possible! I'm so excited for you all!
  14. Nope, but just found out I was waitlisted! Hopkins was a reach for me, so Im okay with this!
  15. @EJ_PhD I did not interview with them. But I did speak with multiple faculty members prior to applying, one of whom will be my faculty advisor
  16. I got into Tulane's DrPH program!!!! I am so shocked and I am feeling so blessed! I got the news today around 4:30 and I'm still shook lol. I'm also really excited to potentially work with my advisor and be in NOLA - which is one of my favorite cities in the country. Still waiting on 4 other schools: GW, Hopkins, BUSPH (interviewed), and Rutgers. Honestly, I'm just grateful to have gotten in somewhere. Every other decision will just be icing on the cake. Praying for options, but pretty happy with this one if it ends up being my only acceptance!
  17. Spoke too soon! I WAS ACCEPTED TO TULANE'S DrPH PROGRAM!!! TGBTG! I'm so shook right now lol. Praying it's the first of a few!
  18. I'm mentally preparing for 2 weeks from now lol. I'm already a mess because I STILL haven't heard from Tulane, which initially said letters would be mailed mid February lol. So I REALLY have no idea when these other decisions would come through.
  19. Waiting to hear back from all 5 schools I applied to haha. Did anyone else apply to Tulane's DrPH program? The program director said that letters would go out mid-February... But I don't know if that means a physical letter or an email. Either way, I haven't gotten either LOL! I already don't anticipate hearing back from GW, JHU, Rutgers, or BU until sometime in March, maybe even April. Happy waiting everybody!
  20. GW said straight up in their email when they received our applications that they would send decisions in March, wo I didn't expect any correspondence. It's still an annoying wait though. But March is here in 12 days lol. So we'll be fine.
  21. You must find great joy in trolling! Bless your heart!
  22. I applied at the December 1st deadline. (Tried to make sure I'm eligible for funding/priority deadline). I got the email asking to interview on January 11th and the only options available had been for February. I have no idea if they're doing the interviews in any type of chronological order based on when people applied. Hope that helps!
  23. Just had my interview with the BU DrPH program today and I'm so pleased! The faculty seems to really love the program and I'm glad to know there are a number of supports in place for students. I must say, I feel good about having interviewed. I know everyone they interview will be a strong candidate, but I'm glad I got the opportunity to talk about why I'm a good fit for the program and why my particular lens is important in public health. We shall see what happens since* it's a numbers game at this point. But I feel good with how I performed in the interview. I was super excited after the interview, but I believe they said final admissions decisions will be made mid March. So I expect we will hear back in another month to month and a half.
  24. @DrPH or Bust my interview with BU SPH is on the 15th. I need to comb through the CVs of the folks I'm interviewing with again... Because on first glance there isn't much overlap... So I'm concerned. But with that said, being myself is what I do best lol. I told myself from the beginning (since my grades were not very good) all I need to do is get in front of someone from the admissions committee for a conversation and I can shine. So it's just a matter of fine tuning my authentic responses to the questions I know they'll ask.
  25. How did your interview go? Was it the usual "Tell us about yourself" and "Why BU?" sort of questioning? Did you find that the professors who are interviewing you have similar interests? Any advice for those of us who are still waiting to interview?
