  1. I’m interested in reducing stigma associated with SUDs. Specifically, reducing stigma among treatment providers, including social workers. BTW: my interview is going to be with the associate director of the DSW program. She hosted the info session I attended.
  2. Sounds very promising! What are your research interests? Did she mention anything on notification timelines or if they have received an uptick in applications?
  3. How did it go?!
  4. Not sure if I mentioned this? I went to SC for my Masters (a long time ago...) and i think they used to only interview people on the bubble of getting in? So no interview in your case probably meant you were a strong candidate!
  5. I was also contacted for an interview, mine is next week! Best of luck! Keep us posted!
  6. How you can prepare for the interview Although there is not a lot of preparation needed for the interview, I suggest you consider the following: Review your essay and be prepared to discuss what you wrote; Prepare questions to ask the interviewer; Be on time (arrive at the School or sign into Skype a few minutes early); Dress professionally (wear what you feel is appropriate for a job interview); What you feel you bring to the program; Relax and be yourself …..really! Source: http://sp2admissionsblog.blogspot.com/2012/01/admission-interview-what-applicants.html?m=1 I have also this found this helpful since Penn’s DSW has the research and dissertation aspect: https://www.sciencemag.org/careers/2019/02/ace-your-phd-program-interviews-prepare-answer-and-ask-these-key-questions
  7. Grats! For UPenn?
  8. Sorry meant to tag Previous Poster. Ignore.
  9. No experience in MPA - but I am a CU alum and Boulder is amazing. Had they had my graduate program I would have returned in a heartbeat. Good luck!
  10. Thanks so much!
  11. Dumplingg - It should definitely have been included in your award letter. No harm in reaching out to their coordinator. For FB groups; sorry I should have been more specific- there is one called “RPCVs” and its public with about 9K members. If you were one of the RPCVs who was evacuated due to Covid, the RPCV evacuation support group is pretty active and has a lot of folks applying to grad programs - it’s private and has about 10K members.
  12. I’m an RPCV - I’m applying to a degree that is not Coverdell-eligible... However, I have a lot of colleagues who did and were awarded the scholarship. Is there a specific question you have or program you’re looking at? Are you in the RPCV FB group?
  13. It’s nice that USC had rolling admissions for their DSW. Gives some flexibility on applications. Simmons has rolling admissions - they just launched their DSW program - it is clinical and, like Penn, has components dedicated to teaching and leadership. The fall deadline for Simmons isn’t until after I would hear back from Penn.
  14. Of course! If you’re a CA resident and you plan to live in CA long term - I would definitely pick UCLA if you get in. The local networking and tuition is 100% worth it. Good luck!
  15. UCLA would be an amazing (and very cost-effective) MSW/MPH.
  16. Hi! Neither school would really matter to the BBS. They’re both out-of-state schools and would require a few extra CEUs as part the LCSW application process. Hours from grad school do not count toward licensure. CA only has the LCSW. No masters level exam or licensure. Both NYU and Columbia are respected/known universities in CA. Here is the out-of-state application to give you an idea of the process: https://www.bbs.ca.gov/pdf/forms/lpc/lpc_app_oos_01012016.pdf
  17. Thanks for the reply! I saw a thread where someone was admitted without an interview (to a Masters-level program) - and another where the interview was over a month out... My deadline was 2/15 (non-rolling admissions) - I think I'll follow up on 3/15 if I haven't heard anything.
  18. I have a feeling that Penn’s SP2 received an increase in applications across the board this year. Was curious if anyone could share their SP2 application date to interview request timeline? Or if anyone else is also waiting for an interview invite - hi, let’s keep each other company! I’m usually a patient person, however, I saw an application update (on gradcafe) related to Penn SP2 that encouraged people to follow up if they hadn’t heard in a certain timeframe.
  19. I applied to a different UPenn program and I’ve heard they’ve have a huge uptick in applications. Hang in there ??????
  20. EJM - did you apply to penn last cycle or were you going to apply if you didn’t get into SC? I’m trying to get an idea of Penny’s timeline. Applicators 2/15 Interviews in March? Notifications in April? Curious when you get contacted for an interview.
  21. I’m bummed there isn’t more chatter related to DSWs. Even on Reddit. Given the growing popularity and number of programs - you think there would be more. Also, don’t Google DSW interview or you’ll just get information on the shoe store. ? How’s your cohort EJM? What has been your favorite class so far?
  22. Nothing yet - just confirmation of my submitted application. I've read that a lot of programs have seen an increase in applications this year due to the economy. It will be interesting to see how the process goes. I'll keep posting updates! For SC's DSW: Do you have classes year around? I wish SC had a clinical DSW option!
  23. It just seems odd. I feel like everyone has an app these days. I’d be curious what their reasoning is. I guess it’s not cost effective.
  24. That sounds amazing! I am mostly interested in teaching practice classes but also interested in leadership and clinical work. I love USC, but their program was a little too macro oriented for me. (I lean clinical but prefer integrated micro/macro practice) Although, I have heard amazing things! Did you apply anywhere else during your application process?
