Right... I am trying my best to avoid self-criticism but getting no admissions yet makes me disheartened.

Yes I think it’s just the reality that every time there is an economic downturn these “useless” (financially less productive) subjects are always the first ones to be sacrificed. 

I hope this would become true. Waiting makes me so exhuasted.

Omg that's so harsh.. I think applicants of the theory field suffer from the most tough time at this year's cycle.

I love how we try to keep our hopes alive hahahah (don't misunderstand me, I have also applied to Berkeley cp and think I am a really good fit that is why :D)

Someone should do a reboot of the Hunger Games. Only this time is about prospective grad students, doing terrible and incredible things to get accepted. Getting funding is the equivalent to pick a weapon of the cournucopia.

I know other people have previously mentioned this, but I want to reiterate their advice: I would caution against contacting departments right now; I know these are stressful times for all of us, but you will get an answer eventually, whether its this month or at the latest March for most PhD programs in the US. I am certain that both faculty and us applicants are feeling pressure in different forms! Don't let the stress take you over the edge.

Also if I have to see lil uzi vert and that pink diamond one more time....

That's what I figured. 

To add on to this, you don't have to TA at NYU, and if you do, that's pure extra money in your pocket. However, I don't think people can TA in first year. Additionally, first years do have some housing priority in NYU-owned (read: cheaper) apartments, though idk whether they kick you out of those after a year or two. 

Thanks! The offer letter said something like last year the stipend was 29500$ but it's likely to be more than that this year.

Well everyone, we made it through the first week of Feb; for some of us it was good news and for others bad while a lot of us still wait anxiously. No matter what camp you are in though, use the weekend to relax and recharge as we prepare for another week of likely decisions. Just remember you are never out until it's over!

I got an acceptance from NYU :0
I was pretty sure I was not going to get an offer, as people were claiming admits the other day. Well, this certainly offsets the sting from UTexas

Dispute Resolution amongst interstate coalitions, studying rebel alliances and why some rebel groups choose to work together or oppose one another and the role of Bretton Wood's institutions in furthering the national interests of US . Those are the three things I'm interested in researching and depending on which school I was writing for I adjusted my SoP accordingly.
