  1. Hi guys, I applied to Kennesaw State University's PhD in International Conflict Management in August this year for a Spring 2023 start. I guess it is one of the few programs that has both a spring and fall start. Anyway, happy to report that I got accepted and have been offered a full graduate assistantship, along with a $2,000/month stipend. A couple of years ago, I had applied to 8 programs and was not accepted into any. This time I applied to only one and got in. I wanted to wish everyone good luck, whether you have gotten into a PhD program or are looking to apply again.
  2. Category is: Grad School Rejection! Got one from Syracuse today, arrived by email at 7:09 am.
  3. Yeah, I hear you! I wish all schools just agreed on one date where they all announce the results at the same time. The waiting can be such a rollercoaster.
  4. There was someone in the results section that refered to the following tweet by a Gorgetown professor:
  5. Haha it was Syeri something. Not even close to my name ?
  6. Had this dream the other day where I got a decision envelope from Duke University (which I haven’t applied to btw). When I opened it, the acceptance letter was addressed to someone else. But in the dream, I thought to myself, “How could they have messed up my name that badly?!” ?
  7. If anyone is applying to the PhD in Conflict Resolution and Analysis at George Mason, I got the following email upon inquiry:
  8. I was wondering if folks would feel comfortable sharing what their areas of research were in their Statements of Purpose. Mine was on politicial will as it pertains to LGBTQI rights in IR.
  9. Talking about books, I recently came across this book on PhD admissions called Inside Graduate Admissions by Julie Posselt, a professor at USC. She covers 10 top ranked PhD programs in different fields: social sciences, humanities, education, etc. I wish I had found it before applying. hahaha There were moments where I was like, "Why am I torturing myself reading this after I've submitted my applications?" Nonetheless, I'm glad I'm reading it. It is calming me in a weird way while waiting to hear from programs. https://www.amazon.com/Inside-Graduate-Admissions-Diversity-Gatekeeping/dp/0674088697
  10. Hi everyone, I just found Grad Cafe and this forum yesterday and I am so glad to see other people that are feeling and going through the same emotions that I am. I've applied to nine programs: University of Chicago, Cornell, George Mason, Georgetown, MIT, Princeton, Tufts, Syracuse, and Yale. Someone mentioned the attached tweet by Georgetown Professor Dan Nexon, in the survey results, and I thought I'd share it here.
