Declined my offer at MIT. Hope somebody on their waitlist will celebrate soon!

If it's helpful to know, NYU's visit day is next Friday, so most admitted students will likely wait until after the visit day to make a decision on their offers. Good luck and hoping one of your waitlists converts!

Hey, sorry that it hasn't worked out for you this year, but I do think if you were able to convince a POI to want you admitted, you have a good shot in future years too.

To add to this discussion for anyone else thinking of places to apply for next year etc: if you're an international student, that also really complicates matters. For example, I know I need an R1 job if I want to stay in academia in the US. Teaching colleges aren't going to sponsor my visas and stuff. Needing an R1 job means applying to an R1 program, which is all I did this year and plan to do next year.

Just got a waitlist from NYU. 2/2 waitlists so far haha. Not too bad, given that Princeton and NYU were my weakest apps.
