  1. Hi everyone!

Just wondering for those who have accepted UofT Advanced Standing health & mental health stream - does anyone know how we can go about taking a course in the summer before we start? I've heard from friends who are currently doing the program that it's a good idea to get the research course out of the way. I'm just trying to get more info about this to see if it's offered online and if it's asynchronous?

If anyone knows or has any info, that would be appreciated!! :)

I didn't! I got an email saying there was an update to my application on sgs and when I went to my current app, there was a pdf letter

    Congrats! Thanks for sharing :)

i got an invite on ACORN and am still waiting for that email stating my sgs portal has been updated. I know from applying previously that they go by last name when they send out those emails. Do you mind sharing what letter your last name begins with? I’m hoping to get that email soon to know which stream I was accepted into as my first choice was health and mental health!

    Congrats again!

  3. Hi Everyone,

I’ve been silently keeping up with this forum pretty regularly.
Just checked this morning on acorn and saw I’ve been invited with an outstanding deposit and wanted to let others know that good news is on the way! I applied for the health and mental health stream and the children and families stream as a backup. I’m not too sure which one I got tbh because it doesn’t say.
But good luck to everyone and don’t lose hope!

  4. Hey everyone,

Just trying to do the application on UofT's portal. Looks like it's different than last year. for the section of current employment status, should I still include past employment? Cuz looks like it lets you add that stuff in. This year's application portal is worded in a really confusing way. If anyone knows, please let me know!

  5. Hey everyone!

I'm looking to apply to the advanced standing program at UofT after being waitlisted for the 2 year program last year. I am currently in the process of completing my BSW.

I noticed the advanced standing program has the option of full-time and part-time studies. Does anyone know what exactly this would look like? If I were to select part-time, I understand the 1 year program would be spread over 2 years but would that give me the flexibility to work alongside completing the program?

If anyone has any insight, that'd be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance :D

Thanks for the info! I'll definitely keep your offer in mind if I choose to go that route! I know my program had a lot of the courses but I know I'll have to double check as it was a bachelor of applied science degree that I got. I also got my SSW at the same time through my undergrad at Guelph-Humber so I'm hoping i've met the requirements already! The biggest incentive for me is that I can then apply for the 1 year msw. It's just hard because I live about an hour away from waterloo (without traffic) and I can't afford moving away. I know the website says it's in person but I'm wondering if they have an online or hybrid option that would allow me to stay at home.

I definitely get that! I live in Waterloo right now for my undergrad because i was stuck in a lease, but as of the Fall, I'm moving back home to Mississauga so when I start the BSW in the fall, i'm gonna have to drive back and forth on Thursdays and Fridays for classes. The nice thing is that for the placement, you can request a specific location and it doesn't have to be in Waterloo. I think that's a huge advantage because it saves you from the commute every day. I believe the part-time program is offered online, but not the full-time program (unless because of covid of course)

Hi there, if you don't mind me asking, but do you mind sharing which 1 year post-degree BSW programs you're referring to? Thank you!

Hey! The program I was looking at specifically is through Waterloo! Here's the link to their website: https://uwaterloo.ca/school-of-social-work/future-students-bsw-ft

I have a couple of friends in the BSW program at Waterloo and have heard great things! I currently am finishing up my social development studies degree at waterloo & got accepted to BSW (accepted my offer last night) + I got waitlisted for Uoft's 2 yr msw. It's a great option because it makes you eligible for the 1 yr advanced standing program which is really nice. You also get to do a practicum for all 10 months which is really nice because you get your hours to become registered with the CSWSSW. I'd take a close look at their prerequisite courses because you either need a Social Service Worker Diploma or you have to take 10 of their prerequisite courses - I've taken them throughout my undergrad at Waterloo which is what allowed me to become eligible to apply. I've heard great things about it, and it's definitely worth checking out!! Let me know if you have any questions, I'd be more than happy to help out in any way! ?

Last name A and got waitlisted at UofT 2 year MSW today around 4:30pm! I already accepted my previous offer at Western but am curious what is the likelihood of getting off the waitlist at UofT because if I do get in later i may reject my western offer? If anyone who was waitlisted for UofT MSW 2 year could like this comment please, I am curious to how many of us there are!

Also congrats to those accepted that's soo amazing!! Just curious, what was your experience and final year avgs like? :)

Congrats! I've been keeping track and so far there have been 22 offers for domestic students & 14 waitlisted for UofT! Hope that helps!

Are we thinking they're done sending out acceptances?

Honestly I think so, but it also doesn't make sense. From all the people on the forum, I've counted 22 offers and so far 10 waitlists. Obviously I'm sure there are plenty of people who don't even know about this forum. But I thought there would be more offers

brutal, I don't know what to think lol. O is a pretty common letter, you'd think there would be more.

I wonder if they'll go back. Given that we're almost through the alphabet. I'm hoping they go back... i only have 20 ppl listed who have gotten offers so far. Can you tell I'm paranoid ?
