I don't really think next cycle will be easier.  Everyone who decided to wait this cycle out, plus a lot of people who didn't get in this year, will be applying again next year, when cohorts will probably stay small.  I also think the ongoing effects of COVID are going to be devastating to doctoral programs for years.
So congrats on your acceptance during this year's brutal cycle!

Wondering what people think about this: If I got an offer from a T25 this cycle but didn't get into most other programs I applied to, is my best option going there and considering myself lucky to get an acceptance at all? Or would it possibly be better in the long term to just try again next cycle when admissions will likely be easier and there is a better shot of getting into a T20 or T10?

Just received an admission via email from University of Florida (CP). Given my other acceptances, I will be declining the offer, but of course grateful to have options.

I am also claiming a NW admit, IR subfield. No email from the DGS yet, just an email telling me to check the application portal for the decision.

Claiming a UCLA admit!! Ecstatic doesn't begin to cover it!!! After reading that tweet yesterday I had completely lost hope.  IR subfield, got an email to check the portal but nothing from the department yet. Any other admits heard anything about funding, and/or does anyone know if they typically fund all of their admits? Sending sooo many good vibes to those who are waiting for an update!

Just contacted Texas A&M about the status of my application only to find out that I'd been put on the waitlist. Don't know what to make of it, but I am trying to stay positive.

Claiming a Northwestern acceptance!!! Political theory. I was sooo skeptical due to the 1% acceptance rate this year. Elated is an understatement

It depends on the school, but at the UCs it's like 80-100K/year (it increases quickly though, particularly with outside offers). It would be less at other schools. Public universities often have to release this information, by the way, so you can check.
And obviously, a job at a UC is very very very hard to get and very prestigious.

And we have not seen any UVa admits either in this forum. It looks like rejections and waitlists were sent out a while ago but it's not even clear that anyone has been admitted yet to UVa. So weird.

I wish they would actually use these portals to indicate anything. Why the hell is there a portal just to tell me what I already know ?

Honestly, I’m just waiting for a couple more decisions so that this can be officially over (I know I won’t choose any EU option over the US).  Depending on how the rest of US decisions go, I already know where I’d like to confirm my spot. So it’s really frustrating just waiting and waiting, and I’m sure a lot of you feel this way. I just want to see the end in sight.

Heard from two places where I got waitlisted that in a normal year they would have admitted me, but couldn't this year because of COVID.  Not sure how much this helps but I'm sure it's true for a lot of us.

Yeah when I realized Columbia and MN weren't taking applicants this year I almost considered waiting until next year to apply, but after speaking with the POI at Northwestern and some others I realized there is no guarantee it is going to get easier in the coming years and it might actually get progressively harder. But hey, maybe some unis won't change their cohort size! Only time will tell!
