Has anyone heard anything from LSU, Florida, Alabama, or UVA?
Thanks for the replies in advance
I was notified by AL about two weeks ago. Haven't heard from LSU of UF. Didn't apply to UVA.

You’re right. There should be a dual option offered at more places.
University of Alabama offers a simultaneous MA alongside the MFA as well. That's one of the big draws for me actually.
-
Even though I'm still waiting on a few notifications, I've been seriously considering my options, and I don't know how to choose. Obviously, if UMKC doesn't offer me any funding, they're off the table, but I wouldn't have applied to these schools if they didn't all offer something I'm looking for. How do I decide between attending ASU and University of Alabama (on the assumption I'm waiting for inevitable rejections from my remaining applications)?

Anyone with FSU news, can you tell me what your portal looks like? I still haven't received an email, but the notice at the top of the screen that said (something along the lines of) "your application is awaiting review" is gone. Nothing else has changed, just that block of text is gone. Gah

Weirdest thing happened with my AL letter. Somehow, it was addressed to my married name. I've been divorced since 2006.

My status changed for University of Maryland to under grad school review...? it was under program review. I guess this means a rejection is coming...was really hoping to get accepted. It was definitely one of my top schools.
Not necessarily. If the program wants to accept you, they have to have the approval of the grad school, re: admission requirements. If anything, I'd think it's a step in the right direction.

I feel this. Two weeks ago felt like a burst of movement regarding notifications, and then last week felt like a relative lull. Especially considering I'm still waiting to hear from 6 schools, I need another notification adrenaline rush. I'm peak stir-crazy rn.
AWP was this past week though, and I'm sure most programs/faculty were involved in some way, as presenters, panelists, or attendees (or some combination of the above). They may have taken the week off from notifying so they could focus on AWP.

I’m waiting on five! I’m pretty sure one of them is out, and I know a couple others have started contacting people, but I don’t know if they’ve finished. Radio silence from the others though... and BU is one of my schools so I feel like I’m going to be waiting until, like, April to actually know what’s going on in my life. ?
Yup. Waiting on seven! A couple of these have notes in Results, but if I haven't received an explicit rejection via email or portal, I'm still holding out hope.

While we're waiting for news, let's talk publications. Anyone have anything published online they'd be willing to share? (I'll have to come back and do this from a computer. I'm on my phone on my lunch break right now.)
Here are a couple of mine:

There’s a lot a places that are available, but none at a reasonable rate on any website. It’s frustrating as hell.
Ick. I hope you get the funding AND the housing you need!

I did manage to land a full tuition scholarship, and I desperately need to leave the state, but finding housing sounds like a nightmare because on campus grad housing isn’t a thing right now.
Have you tried Craigslist? I'm going to try to get into grad housing if I can, but I've been looking at CL ads in the areas of potential schools, and it seems like there are often some pretty good set ups

@cecsav No it's on the bottom haha, can't accept if I don't get an TA job. Hadara was basically the only reason I applied. Georgia sucks, I didn't apply anywhere in the southeast other than Mississippi because it was free. Waitlisted a couple good places so hopefully one of those comes through if a TAship doesn't come through.
Haha. It was actually on the bottom of my list too.

Honestly, I feel like this is a question on a lot of people’s minds right now. Especially mine. I don’t know what the future of funding at schools is gonna be like, or if the schools are going to have more incoming class size cuts. I really really hope New Hampshire can come through with the TA-ship.
Because I'm so close to UMKC and already have a home, employment, etc here, and the fact that my kids will probably be attending undergrad an hour east of KC, it's a real possibility for me. However, I wouldn't be able to rationalize moving out of state for a program not offering me full funding.

@cecsav yeah that sounds right. we just keep waiting
Is UMKC high on your list? Will you enroll even if they can't offer an assistantship? (Also, what the heck makes you want to come to the Midwest from GA? Lol)
-
@cosmictonesI just got off the phone with Hadara Bar-Nadav at UMKC, and she said we might be waiting another 2 weeks for any kind of notification regarding GTA positions. It sounds like funding is quite up in the air.

Even better.
They're available as a free online chapbook!

Truly. Whenever I happen upon the combination of science and poetry, I am transfixed. I hunt for it now. There are many of us out here!
If you're down for some recs, check out Rosebud Ben-Oni (I LOVE her periodic table sonnets), Jenny Molberg, and Aimee Nezhukumatathil.

Hey, who was the other UMKC acceptance? Have you heard anything about funding yet?

Thanks! Right now, ASU is my top choice. But if FL comes through for me... lol
