  1. I have a GRFP question and thought I'd try here first, as I don't see a more recent thread. Has anyone transferred from one university to another as a second or third-year with a GRFP? TIA!

Resuscitating this thread to see if anyone has up to date info on the best online sources to look for rentals. I have a good handle on the various neighborhoods, and am looking for unshared housing. TIA!
  3. EDIT: Sorry, I misread this and my original reply was about University of Colorado!
  4. A round of NYU rejections (including mine) just went out. Congrats to those that were admitted, and good luck to everyone in the rest of the process!
  5. I emailed them yesterday and was told decisions "should be out hopefully by the end of the month." That's a lot of qualifiers!
  6. Many thanks, @townny @PopStudies @letsgetit21 !
  7. Ok, I have a "tactical" questions for folks. I'm waiting on two decisions (one is an almost certain rejection from my 'reach' school). The one that I still harbor any hope for (it's an MA program, FWIW) had a very early application deadline (12/1), and I still haven't heard anything. I broke down and emailed my POI to see if they could tell me anything, even off the record and probabilistic. They said I shouldn't assume that I wasn't going to be accepted, but that funding is an issue this cycle. They then asked me if I had been admitted anywhere else. I don't want to be rude and not reply, especially after they replied to my questions so quickly. I have been accepted with funding, to a department I would be very happy at. Do you think giving those details is advantageous or disadvantageous? I can imagine either -- the details making them want to "compete" for me (although this seems unlikely for an MA position), or the details making it easier to reject me, as the POI would know I will land somewhere. I'm probably overthinking, but aren't we all at this point? Thanks in advance, and best of luck to you all for some good news today!

  9. This is a great point, thank you! Can you say more about what you mean by "recruitment funding"?
  10. I just received an email from NYU.... Completely unrelated to my application! A spam-y (GRE-generated, I imagine) invitation to a "Summer Publishing Institute"! Verrryyyy poor timing -- I thought that I was finally going to be out of one of my two remaining purgatories! Good luck everyone.
  11. Same here on both counts.
  12. I'm also wondering about CU Boulder (I applied to the MA program). Has anyone else received a reply, one way or another?
  13. Yeah, the timing is very disappointing. They are refunding application fees, and say they will facilitate rolling applications into 2022 for anyone that wants to wait another year.
  14. In case anyone else has been waiting on Oregon -- I just received this in an email from the DGS. "Unfortunately, due to unexpected cuts to our funding for incoming students next year, we have made the difficult decision not to admit any new students for Fall 2021." Quite a bummer.
  15. I just went through and read the (I think) three old threads on this topic yesterday, in preparation for the same thing. I sent my first declination email yesterday (only one day after getting the offer). I've worked with the department chair previously, so I was mildly concerned it would be awkward. They were however very pleased to have my decision. so fast, so that they could offer the position to the next person on the wait list. Remember that there is some anxiety on the department's end as well! Good luck.
