Bumping this thread up because I was just accepted into Brandeis and it's my number one choice thus far... What is the cost of living here? What would a modest studio or one bedroom cost? Does the proximity to Boston hike up the price? Granted, I've been living in New York for the past two years, so anything that's not $950 for a shared room will seem like a steal to me.

Can we all, like, Skype chat and get drunk?

Thanks everyone! @laura: This is my second acceptance, but I wasn't *in love* with the first school, so this Brandeis acceptance is amazing news for me.

The Butler hate is making me sad! I read the Parable series in 8th grade and loved it to death. Granted, I have not revisited it since 8th grade, so that may have a slight influence on my opinion...

Just got an email from Faith Smith... Accepted into the Joint MA/WGS program with 25% tuition merit scholarship and 25% need-based scholarship! Brandeis is one of my top choices and omg I'm ridiculously excited!!

Amazing is too weak of a word to describe her writing, in my opinion. I love Donna Tartt so much. I've been waiting since The Little Friend--that was ten years ago--for her to release a new novel. I guess it's quality over quantity for her.

Jma, no, sorry! I only asked about the two MA programs. She did mention that all of next week the school will be closed (no idea why...) so I'm assuming notifications will go out this week and the week after next.

Good luck, you guys! Of course, I immediately called the English department and asked if they were releasing notifications for the MA and Joint MA programs; I was told they'll start notifying the last week of February. So we still have an excruciating two weeks to go!

PhD acceptance was just posted. 'Fess up! Who are you, you lucky person? I applied to the Joint MA / WGS so I'm hoping that that program is on a different schedule...
