I applied to U of Arizona as well (Fiction) but haven't heard anything back. Hopefully Ole Miss turns into an acceptance for you. I made it to phase 2 and I'm really excited about attending. It seems like a great program in a cool town.

I got my first good news of the season! Moved on to round 2 at Ole Miss. Although, I'm not sure what the chances are of it turning into an acceptance since there aren't as many schools that do phases. but I'm very thankful and excited either way!

Not all universities are closed monday so there could be news

Thank you for response and the bit about your friends experience. I have some new pieces that I think if I had written when I applied I would have used, but I also had one piece I wrote not far before deadlines (that went in my sample) that I love but think could have probably benefited from more time/more workshops.

I just meant more did you rework any of your old stuff. I've heard of people doing a mix. Like significant revisions on a story paired with something new.

Did you apply to many of the same schools or different ones? And did you change your sample completely? You don't have to answer if you don't want

I've just been trying to tell myself that it's okay if I have to apply again. I can continue to write and try again at different schools next year. That this was a learning process and to give myself grace. I also cry a lot though

Thank you for your response I think that is what I should have done. Sought out programs that didn't automatically get recognized as the most prestigious. but then part of me thinks I would have always wondered. I also have teaching experience so maybe that is something I will keep in mind if I have to go through another round. I'd also try to work on getting more things published.

I don't think reapplying would be the worst thing in the world. It's more about the money

I'm in the same boat. I've already started my list for next year as a coping mechanism. It's so hard to even figure out though which programs make good safety(ish) schools. Does anyone have any ideas?

Yeah. Agree! Although I think Iowa is one of the schools that doesn't always notify everyone together.
