  1. Hey, I am Russian. You can PM me and I will do my best to help you.
  2. Hi MadihaG! Just saw your post and wanted to cheer you up a bit. I am from a different field, but also scored low on GRE and high on TOEFL. My overall GRE score is even lower than yours:) But I do not really care:) I got my master's degree here in the USA and undergrad degree from Russia. Of course, my advice is to look into other programs and schools ( non-top schools and possibly those that do not require GRE) if you do not get accepted this year. Life is life and application season is a big and an expensive gamble---you never know. Good luck!
  3. I decided to give it a try and see if there are any applied ling applicants here. Will be happy to meet and talk to anyone who's applied to PhD in Applied ling programs.
  4. Hi! I also applied to a few PhD programs in SLS/Applied ling, but not Hawaii. Wishing you good luck!
  5. UConn is my dream school and the program is really great! I really want to get in
  6. I contacted them on February 23rd and got the following response. I was somewhat happy it was not a straight rejection. However, I am not sure what to think of it at this point: Your application has been reviewed. We are in the process of deciding about funding for this year. I hope I can get back to you as soon as possible with a decision.

Hey I am in the process of applying to UConn and I am already scared after reading this tread. Are there any international students who do not have a car? Where do you guys live and how do you get to campus and grocery stores? I am just curious.

Hi everyone! I accepted my offer and a TA yesterday and I will be attending Ole Miss in the fall! So excited!!!! Any suggestions on where to live if I do not have a car? Anyone who is also attending this school, feel free to PM me. I will be happy to make new friends!!!! Thanks.
  9. I got rejected twice. Thank you, Pitt. I am so stupid that I did not get it the first time you rejected me...
  10. It was me. I got my rejection. Good luck to you!
  11. Maryland, Carnegie Mellon, Michigan State all have separate PhD programs in SLA. Check out their websites.
  12. Boulder accepted me 3 years ago. I had the same situation-applied for a PhD, accepted into master's with no aid...
  13. Anyone here applied to Purdue? I emailed the secretary a month ago and she told me the decisions would be made by mid-March. I saw a few rejections, but my status is still "under review". Anyone here who got accepted?
  14. I agree! Their online application was terrible! I had to contact their coordinator every time I had a trouble. Besides, my recommenders could not submit their letters, because the link they got was broken. I was very angry when I found out that I could not track my application after submission, although their FAQ section said that I could do it...
  15. It's not necessarily a "no". They might be still reviewing the files (I know it sounds crazy, but some schools are still doing it). If they don't respond, then I suggest calling them and asking over the phone.
  16. I saw some rejections from Purdue....Anyone got accepted? Please share the news!!!
  17. After three straight rejections I am asking myself what is wrong with me and why I don't deserve to go to grad school....So sad...
  18. Yes, I emailed some schools two days ago. Got a response that I will hear back from them by mid to late March...
  19. Anyone heard anything from University of South Carolina?
