Didn't apply to UNC, unfortch. Anybody heard from NYU GSAS (I'm on the waitlist, please say no! lol) or NYU Steinhardt (Music Tech master's)?

Since I originally posted this, I received a wait-list notification at 1:00 AM on a Tuesday morning in the school's timezone. Seems anything is possible!

Well, I was very surprised during college to discover how blatantly people (in and out of college, of all ages) will tell me how anything less than doctor/lawyer/finance industry/engineer/[traditionally high paying white-collar field] was an absolute WASTE of an ivy league education. A significant portion of my family is involved in a "blue-collar" field that DOES require a lot of thinking and planning...but people assume they're uneducated and unintelligent and that I defied the odds with my academic success.

Somewhat related to this quote but unrelated overall....I feel sometimes manual labor is more satisfying than reading and writing in an air-conditioned building. If it weren't so stigmatized, especially since I attended an Ivy League school, I would seriously consider something with a considerable physical component. "considerable physical component" sounds so dirty, actually.

Okay, rejected from Brown. Via email/website, so that was nice. I guess. Was hoping for some implicit waitlist, since the program was a great fit and thus my SoP for them was so easy to write. So: three rejections, one waitlist, and still waiting on that Steinhardt Master's.

Although I'm on a waitlist, I'm assuming that I'll have to try again next year. I was one of those people that applied to relatively few programs, all in the top-tier with great funding. My field is not booming with jobs, especially with the Anti-Humanities mindset everyone has these days. So if I'm going somewhere, I'm going to really try to go to an excellent program with high placement rates and good funding, as well as fit. But I've learned a WHOLE HECK OF A TON this round. Like, that this site even exists!

No news. I wish they'd just send me an email so I don't have to come home to yet another sad envelope and a round of sad faces from my family!

BachRocksMySocks, you are not making me feel any better, but I appreciate the info (because not knowing anything really is torture sometimes). I heard NYU accepts 2-3 people per area, but that's not much better than 1 and I don't have very high hopes. In Brown's email to me, they said "Good to hear from you..." -- so CLEARLY that means they're having an anomalous year in sending out acceptances so late, one of which will be for me, right? Hahahaha *cries into pillow*. I keep forgetting that I applied to a Master's program. I guess I'll shift my hope to that one!

I don't really know, but I'm waitlisted at NYU and they give out pretty sweet financial packages that I assume are hard to deny, and Ivies tend to have sweet financial packages too.

Me too, and they also didn't respond to my question about ranking. I've also been rejected from two other programs and am pretty sure about being rejected from a third, and the only other option I have is a Master's (I've heard nothing back yet, and I don't think that's promising either). So I'm hanging on to this one thing, too. I'm going to ask to send them an updated CV that comes with candy, or something. I have no POI there because I applied to programs not even knowing what a POI was or that contacting someone ahead of time was good or even expected.
