Yep, February!
However, I received two interview invitations last week, which is some of the earliest I've seen on the history of the musicology board (different from music composition) although musicology still has a small representation here. That got the ball rolling on my anxiety and lack of productivity.
I just found out that one of my referees wrote someone a letter that explicitly did not recommend the applicant, and now I'm paranoid. I have been mostly worried about ad-comms reading my writing samples, my SoP, and noting my lack of publications, and I've just been totally complacent about my letters. I just assumed the worst one would agree to write is something generic (not sparkling), but still positive. I'm telling myself that this ref submitted a letter for the schools that have contacted me for interviews, so whatever is written can't be terrible, right? Right??
Why, in the 3 minutes that it took to write this post, did I not get any new emails?? So I'll continue this post - I had a dream last night that I got a letter by mail and an identical email from Cornell! Yay, but postal mail is usually bad. I opened it up and saw "Congratulations" but blinked and it was gone! Then I read that "Your application results have been delayed for 2-3 weeks because.........." nothing.
Still no new email! Maybe I should...work....
