HARVARD!!!!
lyonessrampant replied to lyonessrampant's topic in Literature, and Rhetoric and Composition
Sadly, none of the Harvard acceptances have shared info, and while I don't have a ton to add, I emailed and asked if I could assume I'm rejected since I haven't been contacted. Here's the email I got back: "Thank you for your email. I'm not permitted to give specific information to individual candidates until official notifications are sent by the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Notifications of admissions decisions should be mailed by GSAS within the next week or so." So at least the letters will go out soon and I'll have my confirmation of rejection. Congrats again to those who got in. -
Argh. . .just give it to me already says fatalistic me. So tired of waiting and hoping and then having hope dashed upon the rocks of despair. Please let if be April soon! I'm a T by the way. . .

Didn't ask, sorry. -
Hey all! Just got a call from Utah. Offered a 2-yr fellowship at 15 K per year plus tuition and then TA for yrs 3 and 4 at 3 courses total per year at the same funding amount. For yrs 5 and 6 combo of fellowships and TA. He said that the cohort is usually around 30 ish but that includes creative writing that is about 1/2 of that cohort and MA and Ph.D. I think the funded Ph.D. cohort is around 8ish based on what he said. He said letters would go out next week. No set visiting weekend, but he said they like to arrange individual visits. I live in MT so will drive, and he said they'd pay my gas and lodging for two nights. Alternately, they'll pay airfare. Hmm. . .this presents some decisions. I guess I'll go see Utah and Minnesota. Minnesota is ranked a lot higher (for what that's worth) but Utah is giving me two years of fellowship and MN a semester. . .Hmm. . . decisions. Anyway, good luck to everyone waiting to hear!

It can be done! I've made a bargain with myself that I'm finishing in four (I already have an MA, though). Go, go, Gadget willpower
-
I totally agree. Just tell everyone already! I'm SO bad at being patient.

I did my MA there, so I asked one of my rec writers what was up and he said they got over 600 apps for a 10-person cohort and if I hadn't heard, I hadn't gotten in. UC forwards lots of Ph.D. apps to their MA for review, so you might get an MA invite. They'll send out paper letters at the end of the first week of March. -
So I'm getting totally tired of waiting and emailed to ask what the time frame would be. Here's the response: "The committee is making its final-round decisions for PhD applications next week, and letters will go out shortly thereafter." Best of luck to all of us waiting!

Hey, I submitted my form to decline the offer today. I hope that the funding and spot goes to someone soon! -
Thanks for sharing that info, BeeRuckus, and congrats again on the admit! I think the rhetoric program is different than the English Ph.D., so that might mean that the large pool of regular English Ph.D. admits haven't been contacted yet? I may be reaching for straws, but I think I'll keep hope alive for another day or so. God! I can't WAIT until all this is over. Ugh.
-
Congrats, Beeruckus!
-
I felt fairly confident, but obviously, that was misplaced. Whatevs I guess.
-
Yep, giving up hope now. I'd really, really like to hear from the UTA admits. . .
-
Ah, okay. Well, congrats on that too!
