Cicada, did you get accepted to UTA? Or was the acceptance elsewhere? I sure wish those two who posted admits would share some info on here. . .Congrats to them as well.
-
In the past they've accepted 20 out of 300 applicants.
-
FUck! Did you see that post about 27k for the first year?! Let's hope there are more offers and that was just a huge fellowship. . .
-
Still only 1 acceptance posted so far. Trying to breathe. . .let's all inhale. . . .and exhale. . . together. . .and repeat.
-
Wait. . I think I was in the wrong place. When I check status it just says everything has been sent to the department for review.
-
Mine doesn't work. When I enter my info I get a status box that says when I last logged in and then I click OK and it gives me an error screen that says HTTP Status 404. . .
-
Right there with you. I feel like I might vomit Please, please, please!

Hey Once and Future Grad, thanks I'm definitely going to be making the visit weekend. Had to check my schedule, but it looks like I can swing it. It will be nice to put faces to avatars -
Me too. Does the admit want to share any information? If numbers stay the same, they've admitted about 20. . .I sure hope that's the case this year as well. Congrats to the admit and best of luck to all of us waiting. . .

A SCREEEEEEEEEAM INTO THE SILENCE

Mine is Cold Smoke. I live in Montana and we have an abundance of microbreweries. . .something I will desperately miss next fall. Anyway, Cold Smoke is a nice dark, frothy porter. . .yummy. . . -
Doing okay, Dulcinea, thanks for asking. At least I know for sure I'm going to start my Ph.D. (finally! . . .long story but it's been a few years coming). Good luck with your outstanding applications!

It's implied. Based on past results, they nofity rejections via snail mail. . .so it will take some time coming. However, I'm ripping the bandaid off quickly, so to speak, and resolving myself to accept that I will not get into a top 10 school. C'est la vie. . .

Congrats!

As I said before, the info comes from one of my rec writers who checked with the adcom for me. I went to UC for my MA.If you don't have an MA, you may in addition to the Ph.D. rejection get an offer of admission to UC's MAPH program. Feel free to ask questions if that is the case; that's what I did. -

Okay everybody still waiting on UC, all acceptances went out last week, so if you haven't heard, like me, we're just waiting on the official rejection, which will be mailed the end of next week. To all of you admitted: Congrats firstly but also please realize how lucky you are. UC is an amazing program with great faculty. . . I'm quite jealous of you all:) -
Congrats!

While the statistics say it is easiee to get into law school than an English Ph.D, I disagree thathis is the automatically more lucrative path. My partner and lots of friends are in law school, and many of them are spending the first few years without legal jobs. This is especially problematic because you on average accrue over 100k in debt for the JD, and that number is on the low side. At least you won't accrue that debt in a Ph.D. In addition the market is producing a surfeit of lawyers partly because of the attitde I'm addressing here, so jobs are paying less since they have so many qualified applicants. My partner and many of his friends have come across MINIMUM WAGE postings for new lawyers. I'm not saying don't be a lawyer if that's what you want, but realize few fields guarantee financial success and longevity. (please excuse typos. . . On my phone)

Gosh! That's so long to make a decision! I understand the need to weigh options but that seems a bit much. Anyway, I really do hope some funding comes your way soon. Those multiple rejections in one day can be good in the way you point out; at least it stops the worrying and hoping. I got 3 on Monday and it was nice, once the immediate reaction wore off, to just have it done. Good luck! -
I think too early for an implied rejection. None of us have heard anything, so I'd guess they just haven't decided things yet. Chin up

I think the Ph.D will be by phone for admits based on previous years.
