I would think they'd email you as well as try to call. If you're concerned, notify departments you applied to that your number has changed or that you don't have a phone number for the timebeing. Just email the grad secretary for your department to update your contact info. Good luck!

I am really unsure if I'm proud or deeply troubled by the fact I made it into the top 10. . . hmm. . . I think I'll just add it to the nerdiness proof part of CV right under the lines about my dedication to Star Trek. . .

Columbia's MA (Only) - Worth it?

I think it's weird someone dinged you a mark too (wasn't me). I totally get why taking on debt (UC even with the partial funding was hella' expensive) has the appearance of craziness. I just wanted to share an experience to enhance perspectives, so to speak. -
Columbia's MA (Only) - Worth it?

I certinly can't speak for the poster you're questioning, but I turned down a fully funded Ph.D. offer to Notre Dame to go to U of Chicago's MA, though I was given partial funding. While I'd probably be finishing my Ph.D. next year rather than starting it, I also don't regret my decision. I made it for social and relationship reasons. Obviously, that's a very individual choice. I'm just saying don't judge what on the surface looks like a terrible decision, because people usually have reasons for making those decisions. -

Best of luck. I'll post here as soon as I hear anything else. Mike implied I was getting a fellowship and asked some related questions, so I think they're just figuring out funding stuff at this point. -

Nope, no email yet, but Mike told me via email in response to a question I sent him, so I bet he'd tell you since you can't check online. -

To folks on the English Ph.D. waitlist: I'm going for a campus visit next weekend and will notify them of my decision shortly after. I'm leaning to declining, so I hope the funding gets transferres soon if I do.

Congrats weatherwax!

Okay. Thanks tortola. I was just feeling a little neglected. . . I'm sure you're right about them being busy.
-
So I emailed back with some questions regarding the waitlist on Monday. I have heard nothing back. Has anyone else on the waitlist received any followup communication?

Best of luck Sthesha (sp?. . On my phone) but I know previously rejections have often preceded rejections and that there has been a pretty haphazard manner to notifications. I don't think we're through the first round yet. . . No acceptances posted here or among my other sources. Good luck! -
I am an early modernist specializing in poetry and critical theory. I'm glad to hear you like the program. I love most of the offers I have, but I'd love to live in Boulder. I'm a Montanan who whitewater kayaks and rafts, so Boulder by far appeals to those interests. Thanks for the info!

Yeah, seems like this notification will be quite late, but UW is taking their sweet time too. I don't know. I'll have done a couple campus visits and been in touch with people at other programs for quite a while by the time we here. Certainly makes it easy to get biased for other programs with late notice.

Sorry to hear about the rejection, but that's still a lot of schools to hear from. Chin up and best of luck! On an unrelated note, are there any UW acceptances yet? You'd think those would be forthcoming soon, especially if they're reviewing the MA pool. Shouldn't that mean they're through the Ph.D. pool? At least, most programs review for Ph.D. first and then MA (to allow for referral of candidates and such) but maybe not UW? -

To the poster on the results board who thought she/he was the first rejected, if you search, you'll see quite a few others, so don't feel too badly. Best of luck on your other apps! -
