Contacted the folks at Wisconsin-Madison and found out I am waitlisted. It's alright though. This is not really an HDFS program but yesterday I was contacted by my POI for Washington State University's Prevention Science program and was accepted! So, excited about that!!

I love the manatee, so cute!! I also want to share a video with you guys that made me forget just about everything unpleasant in life when I watched it! If you like baby bunnies, this will be cuteness overload for you!

Sure PMing you right now!

Got a call today that I was accepted to Penn State, I'm super excited!!

Accepted: Stanford University Rejected: (found these out by directly e-mailing department program coordinators to inquire about status and was told I was not added to their final interview list). Boston College University of California - Davis Interviewed at Rochester and waiting for their decision. After that, 6 more schools to go!

Not yet!! Hopefully this week we will get some answers!

22 year old here! And will be turning 23 this year. I am not sure if the reason I will not be taken seriously will be because of my age, but because I have the appearance of a teenager (according to many people who think when I graduated, I graduated from high school rather than undergrad ). I think your age is pretty common, because many students apply after undergrad. If you are confident in your research interests and skills, I am sure people will take you seriously.

That's great, congratulations!!!

Interview Attire: Other than the obvious..

The graduate student that was hosting me told me exactly what to wear for the interview weekend before I attended, so they are a great resource. For the interviews I wore a nice, 1/2 sleeved dress with leggings and boots, and a blazer. For dinners, although I was told it was okay to wear jeans, I wore "nice," colored jeans (jeans that would be appropiate for work), and a blouse. Although I am short, I refuse to wear heels, because I look like a fool walking in them but that is just me. If it's icy where you're going be careful, because some girls did stagger/trip during the campus tour. I could tell the professors where I went did not mind about dress that much, because they themselves were in jeans haha, but it is nice to dress up a little bit more than usual. Good luck on the interviews! -
Thank you for the congratulations, guys! I really appreciate it! It was a truly great feeling getting that acceptance letter!

I was losing my mind for the whole month of January and on February 1st...my first acceptance email out of thin air!! So so happy!!

Got my first acceptance Friday for Stanford's DAPS program!! I'm ecstatic!! -
I applied to University of Toronto for the PhD Developmental Psychology and Education program...I have no idea when I will start hearing back. That "under review" status on my application has been taunting me...
-
The wait is terrible. I also regularly use my e-mail during work so it's even more nervewracking haha! One of my co-workers is telling me to relax but it's-so-hard! Also, for those who applied to Penn State, I'd be interested in knowing your POI's (and telling you mine as well), PM me whenever you have time

Could those who got an interview for UC Davis Psychology and UMD Human Development please PM me your POI? Thank you!

MacZeeZee: Congrats on your two interviews, good luck!! -
I applied to 10 schools for this application cycle. I never really thought about having a top choice when I applied, I would be honored to get in every program I applied to, but there are definitely three schools I would like to go to more than the others, and luckily I scored an interview for one of them! They are one of the top schools in Developmental Psych so I was really pleasantly surprised and I am now super nervous for the interview coming up in less than a week! Congrats on your interview EastCoasting, a year really does make a difference! Good luck to everyone on your apps! *spreads good vibes all around*
-
Ahhh I know what you mean about the application process being stressful! Even though everything is done I am still stressed out just checking my e-mail every second of the day haha. That's awesome that you did the McNair program, I know it's a really prestigious program and I am sure it will help your application! I will PM you the POI's.
-
That would be really neat if we all got in the same school! I graduated a year ago last May and am taking this year to get some more research experience, and it has been really beneficial! Were you applying right out of undergrad? I couldn't imagine doing all those applications during my senior year, I was already piled with work, so kudos to you!
-
I applied there! Haven't heard anything from them yet...maybe hopefully next week? (wishful thinking)
-
I am planning to give my recommenders a personalized thank you card as well.
-
I applied to a couple of HDFS programs as well and have yet to hear anything~ The wait is nervewracking!!

Hi all~ I have been lurking on the boards for awhile but I thought I'd join in on the fun. I applied to a couple developmental psych and human development programs and so far have one interview which I am super excited for!! Still impatiently awaiting ANY information from the other schools. -
I just got an e-mail, and unfortunately didn't get it. :/ I applied for a research grant to South Korea, maybe they are sending out rejection e-mails first.
-
Congrats to everyone who has found out that they have made it to the next round!! I am eagerly awaiting my notification, sadly I will be in class then, but at least it will take my mind off my e-mail for a little while.
