  1. Hi all, As the semester closes, I might get a C+ to B in my Linear Algebra class (depending if I get at least an 80 on my final exam). I want to know the repercussions of this on my transcript and graduate ad comms. Is it so bad to retake a course if you received a B-?
  2. That's EXACTLY what I wrote to professors. I even called most of them and left messages on their voicemail, stating that I would like to hear from them via phone/email. What should I do now? I don't want to flood their inbox with my emails and then I become totally ignored or spammed.
  3. How do you establish connection with a professor you never met??!! Sending emails and letters will suffice? I've been trying that for loads of professors and NONE of them reply or even acknowledge my questions. And how would you captivate a professor's interest in the first place without being cliche? This is very vague advice coming from across the board.
  4. I guess I'm in a similar situation. I completed Cal 1 in HS via AP Cal. Cal 2 in college was horrible, I got a D and then a C+ in Cal 3. I'm confident about my abilities now because in Cal 2, I had no resources to complete the course; calculator, textbook, tutoring schedule. Should I take Advanced Calculus 1 and hope to get a B+ to override the previous grades?
  5. A B- isn't that bad, but does make a mark. If you take Advanced Calculus I and get a B or better, I'm pretty sure it can even it out to say the least.
  6. This thread makes me teary eyed, I sincerely need to get into Edinburgh next year!
  7. Congrats Sweetpea! What was the unconditional reason? What does that mean? Sorry to be poking you about it.
  8. ^That's actually a very well thought out email from MTI. What's VERY ambiguous and discouraging is that some users here say if I had a bad undergraduate degree (due to extenuating circumstances like depression and extreme domestic issues) that I should give a brief explanation about it. While other users say, you shouldn't say anything about it at all, and just focus on the positive (which is very little, mind you). And why did they ask you to be an unmatriculated student? I'll reply ever more often here.
  9. When I didn't hear from a school by March, I called them and made sure I reached the graduate secretary or admissions advisor! Have you guys made calls and yet no response ?
  10. I agree with ANDS!, I have SimpleMobile, 40$ a month unlimited data(3G/2G), talk, and text - also international text! If you dont mind buying phone cards for 2 bucks and calling Canada. Check to see international rates for SimpleMobile /Verizon/Metropcs
  11. Wow, I got a D in Cal 2. And C+ in Cal 3, even though the material was very easy, the instructor was a Ph.D student and was EXTREMELY stylized in her grading rationale and tests. The nutshell here is, if one excels in advanced classes, the basic or lesser ones will be overlooked?
  12. Anybody have suggestions with University of Edinburgh? I am an American student waiting to apply for 2013.

Will respond to your pm antecedant. I'm a math major and currently taking advanced undergrand math courses to fulfill teh minimum requirements for graduate school and beyond. I know competition is very tough and would like to know, how can I approach the SOP and what to suggest to my new professors( I applied for Fall 2012, didn't get in anywhere especially with horrible recommendations from my old recommenders) that University of Edinburgh can highlight me as a potential candidate. I...

  13. This is a dream school of mine. The university's international events to meet students were in NYC last year but I missed my chance to meet them. Do I have to get friendly with certain people and accommodate myself with them? I am interested in the MSc in Applied Math.
