  1. Has anyone figured out how to confirm that Buffalo received everything? Should I just send an email or call? If anyone did this, who did you contact?
  2. Has anyone figured out how to confirm that they received everything you sent? Did you just have to call them?
  3. Okay, so I just checked mine, and it's showing that one of the LOR was uploaded today, so I guess I didn't have that problem.
  4. I'm not sure because I just submitted my application. I did email my LORs and told them to let me know if they didn't receive the LOR request, and none have said anything. I need to check on that.
  5. Okay, so basically they said that on the application you should list the two LOR you want the English department to forward them. If you don't list two, they will just pick them at random. Then, if you have taught before, send an additional letter from someone who can speak to your teaching. As for the writing sample they want you to send, as part of section I of the application, they want only a 3-5 page piece of writing.
  6. Ahhh, I see what you're saying. Well, I have sent them an email, so I'll let you know what I find out, if someone responds.
  7. I just emailed the department. Here's hoping someone responds.
  8. Okay, so I don't know where all of my UMass peeps are, but I am working on the TA application (boo) and it says this: Two letters of recommendation. Letters submitted as a part of your application for graduate study in the English Department will automatically be transferred to this application. If you have had teaching experience, we encourage you to send us an additional letter referring to this work. So, I am assuming that the only letter of recommendation I need to send in would be the additional letter from someone who can refer to my teaching, right? Then, it also says to list the two people whose LOR they will receive, which is confusing because I submitted 3 to the department. How should I know which two they will get forwarded? Grrrr... I am so annoyed that this application for a TAship seems to be more complicated than any of the other applications.
  9. Honestly, anywhere that will take me. All of the schools I applied to I would love to go to. If I have actual options, then I will have to assess which one I want to go to the most.
  10. Yeah, some of the words were slanted and got cut off. After printing it twice and it doing the same thing, I said F it and sent it as is.
  11. Yeah, I did too. It's a little sad how attached I have become to this website.
  12. I'm sorry but "Your" and "You're" is the most infuriating thing ever. I especially see it all the time on facebook!
  13. Good! I sent my 20pg. I just mailed everything off, so I am glad to be one with that app! Good luck!
  14. All right, I just included my last two years of school, which are also my the 4 semesters AFTER the semester where I received 60 credits. I can't keep obsessing over it. I submitted the application, so I just need to mail the writing sample and be done with it.
  15. Has anyone completed and mailed the application for the composition program? I think I am going to email them today because the letter or recommendation aspect is a little confusing.
  16. I'm wondering if I should call and ask someone about it, or just go ahead and put the courses I took after my first 60 credit hours........I really want to get this application done, but at the same time, I am really hesitant to call because I hate calling people about stuff like this.......
  17. Thanks for responding. I wasn't sure if I should contact someone in the department or the office of admissions. I hate that EVERY application seems to have some hidden confusing aspect. I know a few of you have already completed this application. What did you do?
  18. Okay, so I am a little confused about the GPA calculation on the UF application, and I can't seem to find an email address on the website of who to contact about my question. The explanation of the GPA calculator states " While GPA will be verified by the university, an accurate self-reported GPA expedites the admission process. Junior and senior-level study refers to course work taken after the term in which you earned 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours. These courses generally are taken in the third and fourth years of study, and continue until you graduate with a baccalaureate (B.A. or B.S.) degree." Which makes me feel like they just wanted the grades from my junior and senior year until I see this: "Your calculation should include all completed course work, excluding dropped courses and courses that did not award letter grades (e.g., satisfactory/unsatisfactory grades). If you have repeated a course, you must include both grades in your calculation." So now I am confused. Do I report EVERY undergrad class or just the junior and senior years? And, am I to assume they don't want my graduate school GPA from when I got my Master's? Do anyone know or can anyone tell me who to contact about this? Ugh. So confusing.
  19. Yikes! I can't believe you were rejected because the app was incomplete. That's awfully douchey, I think. I mean, you paid all that money and spent all that time, so obviously if something was incomplete, it wasn't on purpose. Shame on them!
  20. Yeah, I'm not sure. I've had two schools contact me, and both times it turned out they had the stuff and didn't realize. I am still finishing up my last 3 apps this weekend, so I figured that once I was done with those 3, I would check each school's website to make sure they had everything, and the ones that don't let you check online, I will probably email and tell them the problems other schools had and say I just wanted to make sure they didn't have the same issues......
  21. I've had a couple of schools tell me they didn't receive transcripts from one of my schools only to find out they did receive it but it was in my maiden name. What is the point of including "other names I have gone by" if they aren't going to check it?
  22. Mine are folders in Dropbox. If you guys don't use Dropbox yet, trust me, it will save your life!
  23. My intro to lit courses this semester start next week, so I'll be reading some classic and some of my contemporary faves.
  24. I think I am just going to send my 20 page paper because it is better than the 15 page version. And since they didn't give a maximum, I think 5 page is okay. I am also going to mail a CV. I'm not sure about the SOP, though. I mean, everyone's is not formatted correctly, so I'm sure they're used to it.
  25. Luckily, my emails go to my Blackberry immediately after I receive the emails, so I will be able to know right away. i don't know what i'd do if it wasn't for my Blackberry.
