Thank you so much! I'm gonna stick to the word limit. lol
-
Hi everyone, Since I've been working on a few drafts for my SOP for MPA. I was wondering what you thought about going over the word limit? A friend of mine who's doing MPP at Harvard wrote a 3 page statement when they required only one. And same with another friend studying at NYU. I'm assuming since they got admission they didn't care about the word limit? Although I've read otherwise and have been told that you need to stick to their limit provided by the particular schools? Just thought I'd ask for your input

Waiting it out 2012... 'I've just submitted my application' thread
clover123 replied to fenderpete's topic in Waiting it Out
I'm almost ready to submit my app to cornell this weekend. One of my old college profs is freaking me out. She's so slow with writing the damn recommendation. eeek! I've been calling/emailing her every week to remind her Hope she doesn't get too pissed off! lol -
40 on 1200? Is that mentioned on their website? Damn that's going to be tough. Ugh!
-
Hey! Yup I'm applying. I was just putting my supplemental documents together and mailing them off tomorrow morning Anyone else?

Absolutely! Look up the colleges you might be interested in working at.. in Europe. And just ask them Good luck!

Sorry if this is a really late reply but I thought I'd put in my 2 cents on your situation as well. First things first. Work never comes first. Your health does. Whatever you do, if you're not physically and mentally fit, you're never going to do it well. So do whatever it takes to get you happy. Antidepressants, family time, friends, boyfriend.. anything. Secondly, I feel like you have this pressure on you to do a certain thing (finish grad school), be a certain way, etc. It doesn't matter if you don't have a plan right now. Your life is way too long for you to get wound up over that. Do one thing at a time and do it bloody well. So you don't regret anything. If it's one class. then do your best in that class. But like I said, first, focus on making yourself happy. Getting depressed and having anxiety attacks is normal. But it's not normal if you don't take care of it and spend your whole life being miserable over it Good luck! and have faith in yourself! You can make anything happen!

The American SIS Fall 2012 Thread
clover123 replied to fenderpete's topic in Government Affairs Forum
I am I'm from India too, but did undergrad in Cali. My top choice is NYU and and I'm still contemplating on SIS. GRE is coming up soon and I'm working full time too so just trying to squeeze in time to prepare for it :S Still looking at schools that will provide funding. -
That's true. But a lot of universities in the US give pretty good aid, to some students. While in the UK there are barely any scholarships available. I could be wrong though.

Hey everyone, So I've been reading a lot of the posts here and it's been so helpful to read a lot of the content on this site. I'm planning to apply for my masters in MPA for 2010, in USC, UMass, and CMU. I'm still thinking and deciding between a few other schools. but I'm looking for mostly programs with a less quant focus on more on the qualitative side. I'm also researching schools that have or offer a good amount of aid for masters students. Please let me know if you know of other schools I should look into. My aim post grad school is to work in consulting, in the public sector. Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated )

I'm wondering about the same thing. Only thing I think that is a better option funding wise is the US. UK can get way too expensive with no scholarships :S And since I'm an international student that's one of my top concerns.

Funded MA/MPP or apply to PhD? Advice on applications
clover123 replied to fenderpete's topic in Government Affairs Forum
Mocha! your app/stats sound so great. I'm almost jealous of your GRE score. lol I did pathetically in GRE, so I'm giving it again next month, and hoping it goes off okay. And like you, I haven't taken a Quant class ever, except for years ago back in India for which I don't have the transcripts -
I was wondering the same thing. I'm planning to apply for MPP in the US. I'm from India, and funding is a huge deciding factor for me as well. I did my undergrad in the US and have had about 2 years work ex. Any ideas on what schools give good funding? Also, I'm not a huge stats/quant person at all, and I want to focus more on Human rights./Intl Development. So any advice on what programs would be suitable?? Thanks in advance

Funded MA/MPP or apply to PhD? Advice on applications
clover123 replied to fenderpete's topic in Government Affairs Forum
There are quite a few schools that will fund you with scholarships and grants. Keep looking around. My friend just got accepted to Harvard MPP with a full scholarship. And he had 2 years work ex. Make you personal statement mindblowing! That's the main advice he gave me. -
Hi everyone. I'm an international student from India, and planning to apply for my masters to the US for Fall 2012. Am I eligible to apply for a Fullbright scholarship? How do I go about it? Any info would be really appreciated

Hello everyone, I'm new here (finally figured how to post a topic here). I'm planning to apply for my Masters this year to the US, and have been so stressed out regarding the amount, or lack of funding available for international students. I did my undergrad in California on a full ride, and got admission to Claremont for my masters, but declined the offer since they had no aid. Any body know of any schools that give a good amount of aid/fellowships to international students? Looking forward to hearing from you
